A Son of Osama bin Laden Believed Killed By U.S. Missile May Be Alive

DUBAI, MARCH 22, 2010

A teenage daughter of Osama Bin Laden has been released from Iran after years of house arrest and then months of hiding out in the Saudi Arabian embassy, her family said.

Iman Bin Laden, 18, is now in Syria with her mother, Najwa Bin Laden, who went to Iran earlier this month to secure Iman's release.

The teenage daughter of the world's most wanted man spent 112 days living in the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Tehran after escaping house arrest in a family compound.

"She looks healthy, and she's just adjusting to outside life," Zeina Bin Laden, Iman's sister-in-law, told ABC News. She said Iman was 7-years-old when she last saw her mother, and will now be homeschooled after a childhood without formal education.

Dozens of Osama Bin Laden's family members, including 11 grandchildren, have been held in Iran since fleeing Afghanistan shortly after the U.S. invasion in 2001. The bin Laden family has described their conditions as comfortable with frequent shopping trips, swimming pools, computers, and Playstation video games.

1. Just curious - why was our "enemy" holding our "enemies" daughter?

4. why are we holding various harmless people?
Bin Laden is also an enemy of Iran. I don't think that means that locking people up indefinitely for no reason is more or less excusable for them.

6. I agree, especially children. What I was asking is what the argument
between Ossama and Iran was about.

7. well, the same as with us, I would guess.
That is - at least on the surface - what Bin Laden wants is an Islamic Caliphate across what he perceives to be the "muslim world", and Iran is against that. Sure, they may be an Islamic republic, but something as simple as having some sort of religion in common hasn't prevented conflicts before. How many wars have been fought between Catholics and Protestants? They have different religions and very different views about what the role of religion should be in society and government.
