Pentagon eyes more "humane" enforcement of gay ban
Source: Reuters

Defense Secretary Robert Gates is expected to address ways to allow more "humane enforcement and application" of a policy that has seen thousands of homosexuals forced out of the military, the Pentagon said on Tuesday.

<snip>

The long-expected announcement follows a 45-day review ordered by Gates, which was completed earlier this month.

One of the ways the Pentagon might relax enforcement of the law could be to halt disciplinary proceedings against gay members of the military who are "outed" by others.

But the Pentagon has been tight-lipped about what steps Gates might announce.

Great! Every gay member of the military can get someone else to out them...Then they can all just serve like everybody else.

This is getting as stupid and tied up in unnecessary knots as Health Care Reform!

4. There's absolutely nothing "humane" about it.
What could possibly be the correct way to discriminate against a group of people?

5. Fuck You, Gates. Fuck You, Fuck You, Fuck You.
I've about had enough of the leaders of this ignorant, third world, train wreck of a country talking about me and mine as if we're fucking less than human. Fuck the religious assholes, fuck the Republicans, and fuck the Democrats.

I wish there was a hell, so they could roast in it.

7. It's the Republican's fault, once they get behind gay rights, Obama will feel safe getting behind
gay rights too.

10. Oh please...
The Republicans weren't behind his health reforms but that did not stop him.

Mr. Obama continues his 'strong advocacy' of all issues gay.

14. Oh, please. He could have suspended DADT discharges on day 1. 10 U.S.C. 12305

Instead, he assigned this to Gates and dishonestly claimed he could do nothing unless and until Congress acted.

16. Sorry, forgot the 'sarcasm' smiley...
Sorry.

I fully realize he has been far from the 'fierce advocate' he claimed he would be. This is sad.

15. I don't know if you've noticed yet, but Obama's advocacy and his rhetoric are quite dissimilar.
He campaigned against mandatory health insurance and for a public option, but the Republicans wouldn't approve so he gave the People's interests away in behind-closed doors meetings with industry reps, which he also campaigned against. Really, it's not just me - many have already caught on to him.

And too many people are taking the 'it's better than nothing' approach.

6. It's like the Democrats and single-payer. Try to fix the problem while
struggling to avoid doing the one thing that actually will fix the problem.

18. Get ready for another screwjob, folks.
Wouldn't be "pragmatic" and "post-partisan" to treat queers like human beings.
