DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa Democratic Congressman Bruce Braley has received threats following the passage of landmark health care legislation earlier this week.

Braley spokeswoman Caitlin Legacki confirmed Thursday that Braley, who represents northeast Iowa's 1st Congressional District, has received threats and is working with Capitol Police.

Legacki declined further comment. Braley voted in favor of the health care bill.

1. I wonder how many of the threats are by constituents
and how many from other areas of the country?

Would Iowans be of the mind to go to this level of confrontation? Of course, not all Iowans are Iowans. There are likely to be many that move to Iowa that weren't raised properly.

3. I heard recorded threats from some office in OH (I think) and most the people
has STRONG southern accents, lol. Ohioans don't sound like southerners. I know. I lived there.

6. sadly Iowa is not as blue as it used to be
You need only spend time reading comments on the Des Moines tv channel websites to see how outnumbered the liberal voices tend to be. But many of us won't be scared away ;)

7. I think the wing-nuts are just more vocal...
They're emboldened by their media heroes (Rush, etc.) and their bible-school educated preachers. So you'll see more of their misspelled, poorly reasoned, junior-high level rants online. But Iowa went blue in the 2008 presidential, and our state government is comprised of a Democratic Gov, Senate, and House. Furthermore, Iowa elects Harkin year after year - one of the most liberal in the Senate. Plus we have three out of five Dems in the U.S. House. If anything, Iowa is more blue than it has ever been, IMO.

10. you have a point
I'm in very blue central Iowa but we can't rid ourselves of Latham...hope that can change. The right nuts are so loud and obnoxious that they bluster all around us, but in the end I think many just stay home on election day which is good for us :)

9. There are so many of these threats...
...that this is beginning to look like an orchestrated effort designed to create the illusion that the citizens are outraged about health insurance reform.
