Police: Bullet That Hit Cantor Campaign Office Window Was Randomly Fired In Air A Long Way Off
Source: Associated Press

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Richmond police say the bullet that hit a window of Republican Virginia Congressman Eric Cantor's office had been randomly fired skyward.

Amid reports of threats and vandalism against Democrats who voted Sunday for sweeping health care reforms, Cantor said at a Washington news conference Thursday that a bullet was fired into his Richmond office.

In a news release, Richmond police said that the bullet had been fired into the air early Tuesday. It hit the front window of a building that houses Cantor's campaign office as it fell to back earth at a sharp angle.

34. Go to CNN they are posting and publishing this like it was the
terror attack to end all terror attacks. Can you believe that. Here you have children threatened, gas line cuts, and outrageous threats and incitement by even republican congresspeople and they are making this their number one story. Cantor is the biggest POS in virginia right now. I can not stand that liar.

Surprisingly. It was almost as if they used the AP article in the OP as a script.

28. Actually, Eric Cantor didn't say that, it was the police that reported it.
The bullet was randomly fired into the air. When a bullet is fired into the air, it can go a good distance up and fall back down (like a little rocket). If fired at a slight angle, it can go up and then fall down a distance, even miles from where it was fired. I lived in a small town many years ago, and someone fired a gun (4th of July) a block from my house. The bullet came down amongst a crowd of people watching fireworks 3 miles away and hit a little girl in the head. Fortunately, she was slightly injured because at that point a bullet loses it's velocity, as did the bullet in Cantor's office.

29. P.S. Not that Cantor wasn't lying...
He must have known, at least at the beginning of the investigation, that the bullet was found only a few feet from his front window (apparently didn't even go through the blinds), so it was not "fired at his office", as he claimed it was.

from New Jersey. I calculated the trajectory and pointed my 9mm toward the sky at just the right angle.

I know it was wrong but it was his fault for being so aggravating.

There, I said it!

I'm not surprised that Tweety wasn't on top of the actual facts of the story. I will always remember (however vaguely) one of Rachel's early appearances on MSNBC, when Tweety was literally dumbstruck with the facts that Rachel had brought to a discussion. (as though she'd performed some miracle)

19. Local RW radio host followed the report of the police report with....wait for it...
THEY ARE SHOT AT KANTOR'S OFFICE!!!

and I mean directly following the "news" on WRVA.

He went on to say that there is no PROOF that teaparties are doing anything.

I called in and got on-I pointed out that the police officially said that Kantor's office was not shot at and that he had said it was. I just repeated and repeated and repeated it. The caller after me did the same thing, this is supposed to be the typical RW radio crap....it was hilarious to listen to.

25. OMG!
I just spent the better of an hour on Facebook arguing the same thing. There were a couple of people on there that would just not listen to the facts. I was arguing the fact that the bullet had been fired in the air and bullets can come down anywhere when fired upward. They continued to argue with me, accusing me of all kinds of strange things, and I had to repeat myself more than I could count, try to state the facts that the police had reported. One person resorted to childish insults, and when I ended by saying that "we CANNOT assume that the bullet was meant for Cantor's office", that same person responded by quoting me "we cannot assume..." then asking me "How do you know that?" If I had been drinking something, I would have done a spit take, or choked.

Conservatives are a real piece of work, I tell ya'

U.S. Congressman Cantor: I've been threatened because I'm Jewish

By Natasha Mozgavaya, Haaretz Correspondent

U.S. Congressman Eric Cantor said Thursday that he believed many of the threats leveled against him since he assumed office may be in part to the fact that he is Jewish.

"There's been a lot of reports of threats and the potential for violence against members of Congress," said Cantor, who is the only Jewish Republican Congressman and serves as the minority whip in the House.

36. Geez.
"U.S. Congressman Eric Cantor said Thursday that he believed many of the threats leveled against him since he assumed office may be in part to the fact that he is Jewish."

He "BELEIVED" many of the threats leveled against him..."MAY BE IN PART to the fact that" he is Jewish. The only real fact he stated there was that he is Jewish.

You know how many right-wing followers will only hear this: "Cantor said Thursday that many of the threats leveled against him may be in part that he is Jewish".

And that's just what he's counting on by wording it the way he did.

35. Wait, it HAD to be a liberal. Let me lay it out for you.
1] Intelligence disparities between rethugs and liberals are drastic... Democrats demonstrate an IQ average more than 10 points higher than rethugs.

2] The shooter HAD to be a trigonometry whiz. Otherwise, how could he/she calculate the exact angle at which to fire the gun so the falling bullet would enter his window?

3] So if the shooter was a trig whiz, and Dems are smart, then the shooter was a Democrat!
