Windows broken at Albemarle County GOP headquarters
Source: Charlottesville Daily Progress

Bricks were thrown through the windows of the Albemarle County GOP headquarters overnight in what appears to be the Charlottesville area’s latest act of politically fueled vandalism.

County GOP Chairwoman Rachel Schoenewald arrived at the office in the Albemarle Square shopping center Friday morning to find three windows shattered.

“Hopefully, everyone will conduct themselves as community members and that this violence does not escalate or continue,” she said.

...

On Monday, two conservative Tea Party activists posted online the address of the brother of U.S. Rep. Tom Perriello, D-Ivy, wrongly believing the address belonged to the congressman. They urged others to visit the house and “express their thanks” to the congressman for his vote in favor of health care reform.

A day later, someone went to the house and severed a propane supply hose connected to a gas grill on the deck. Perriello’s brother’s family smelled gas and discovered what Albemarle County authorities are calling a potentially dangerous gas leak.

8. It probably is a "false flag" action
HCR passed. There is little reason for any Democrat to attack a Republican. The only motive I can see for any Democrat (and it would apply to very, very few) would be retaliation for Tear Partyer threats and actions. Such retaliation is very, very WRONG and utterly unnecessary. After all, we just kicked their asses. Job done.

13. This is the same area where the incident with Rep. Tom Perriello's brother gas line being
tampered with occurred... not sure if there's any significance with that?

35. Dyslexic Republicons...
and the fact that they've demonized ALL politicians makes them each a target. Their base isn't discriminating, just looking for an opportunity for infamy.

To say the very least, they bit off more than they can chew.

2. What would be the motive?
Gee, let's see, to make it look like the violence on both sides is equal? In other words, GOP operatives vandalized their own property.

34. NO, the Tea Bag leader of the area put the wrong address for the Democratic HQ on his bulletin board
instead putting the one for the GOP headquarters... ha! It wouldn't surprise me. They're dumb.

Most likely, it was a set up to make Dems look bad, even though GOP nuts have been doing this for weeks to Dem HQ's around the country.

9. This could have been a stupid bagger trick, remember "Ashley Todd," McCain supporter.
http://images.huffingtonpost.com.nyud.net:8090/gen/45227/thumbs/s-BGIRL-large.jpg

Wikipedia:

In October 2008, Ashley Todd, a volunteer for the U.S. presidential campaign of Republican John McCain, falsely claimed to have been the victim of robbery and politically motivated physical assault by a supporter of McCain's Democratic opponent Barack Obama.<1> The story broke less than two weeks before the 2008 United States presidential election on November 4. Todd later confessed to inventing the story after surveillance photos and a polygraph test were presented. She was charged with filing a false police report, and entered a probation program for first time offenders.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashley_Todd_mugging_hoax

Also remember the freep-like man who takes his children in public to right-wing events then claims Democrats ripped signs out of their hands, etc. He's been discussed at D.U. at length, but I can't remember his name.

14. Right! Parlock! From Top 10 Conservative Idiots, Sept. 20, 2004
#4. Phil Parlock
You have to feel sorry for Phil Parlock. I mean, the guy was just trying to exercise his First Amendment rights at a John Kerry campaign event, and he was viciously attacked by Democratic thugs. They even made his daughter cry!

http://www.democraticunderground.com.nyud.net:8090/top10/04/171_parlock1.jpg

"They just pounced on us," said Phil Parlock, "She was crying; they were pushing and shoving her." My God - will those evil Democrats stop at nothing? John Kerry must hate children! Actually, it looks like it's Phil Parlock who hates children - see, this isn't the first time Mr. Parlock has made it into the papers after being "pounced on" at a Democratic rally. After he and his 12-year-old son Louis smuggled Bush signs into an Al Gore event back in 2000, Louis apparently hoisted a girl onto his shoulders. According to the Charleston Daily Mail, "'She walked up and said 'I'll get on your shoulders and hold a sign,' " Louis said. While she was sitting on Louis' shoulders waving a Bush-Cheney sign, a man who identified himself as a volunteer for the Gore campaign tried to pull the sign out of the girl's hands, Parlock said. He pulled so hard that Louis and the girl fell over. 'That sounds like an exaggeration,' said Sarah Feinberg, spokeswoman for Gore's West Virginia campaign." And - would you believe it - Parlock was a victim of nasty liberals at a Clinton campaign event back in 1996 as well! Again, according to the Charleston Daily Mail, "The Huntington man said he was knocked to the ground by a Clinton supporter when he tried to display a sign that read 'Remember Vince Foster' ... 'It must have been a strict Democrat who did this,' Parlock said." Yup, our Phil certainly has a habit of complaining to the media about Democratic "thuggery." Kinda makes you wonder why he took his young daughter to the event last week. But then, once you realize that Parlock appears to have a relationship with the photographer that snapped the above pic, and that the man wearing the union shirt holding the ripped up sign looks suspiciously like one of his sons, and that Parlock even happened to be around when his local Republican party headquarters were shot at by a unknown assailant ...well, it just kinda makes you think. Funny how our Phil always seems to end up in the wrong place at the wrong time - with the media in tow.http://www.democraticunderground.com/top10/04/171.html

Thank you, KittyWampus.

12. Unfortunately, I can see a whacked-out teabagger tossing a brick at a GOP HQ. . .
Incensed at the GOP's inability to stop HCR, and convinced the party no longer offers any leadership for crazy, I can see a deranged teabagger acting out their frustrations on a shopping center plate glass window.

But then, I can also see how a GOP'er might toss a brickbat as cover for their complicity in egging on their nutjobs to attack Democratic targets.

The world's unfortunately gone mad in many different directions lately. Almost every scenario makes sense in this senseless scenario.

and be careful about the remark about "gun-worshipping" ... you'll offend a bunch of posters here who have post counts over four digits who would fall under the definition of "gun-worshipping" ...

20. The typical reaction to violence
Is more violence. I think it's incredibly dumb, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a democrat acting in retaliation. It could also be a fake, but without some kind of evidence of that I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. Remember being pissed off for 8 years while the Country went to hell under the Bush regime? A lot of that anger and resentment is still there. To have our reps spit on and threatened pisses some people off a great deal. That is no excuse for violence or stupidity though.

Who ever did this, whether an actual democrat or a setup/fake, that person should be held accountable and punished accordingly.

26. Charlottesville is Heavily Democratic
All 5 city councilors are Dems. Surrounding Albemarle County was
red but has trended blue the last 10 years & went for Obama in '08.
C-ville is a perennial pick on "top 10" best places to live lists.
If this kind of crap is happening in this very peaceful university
town it does not bode well for America at large.

The building in question is an old bank building directly across
from Pizza the Hut and next door to an Outback steak house.
The main highway is too far away for an accurate throw but the
old drive through lane passes right in front of it.
I bet some drunk 'bagger, hopped up on steroids from his bloody
Outback steak took it as a target of opportunity to make Dems look bad.

There are plenty of store and traffic cameras in the immediate area.
I suspect there will be arrests soon enough.
