Tea Party thousands rally in Reid’s tiny town
Source: MSNBC

LAS VEGAS - Sarah Palin and thousands of tea party activists were gathering at Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's small hometown in the Nevada desert Saturday to call for the ouster of Democrats who supported the health care overhaul.

Organizers predict as many as 10,000 people could come to attend the so-called "Showdown in Searchlight," the hardscrabble former mining town where the Senate Democratic leader grew up and owns a home. Searchlight's population is 798, according to the travelnevada.com Web site.

However, a light turnout or disruptions could lead to questions about the emerging movements' credibility and direction.

***
Now a Fox News analyst and potential 2012 presidential candidate, Palin faced criticism after posting a map on her Facebook page that had circles and cross hairs over 20 Democratic districts. She also sent a tweet saying, "Don't Retreat, Instead - RELOAD!"

Palin is one of the headline speakers. Well, this does it. I am going to contribute to Harry Reid's campaign.

They've been their for a few days now with their RVs and hoverounds.

Remember, most of the enthralled are older White women, wearing short pencil jeans with white socks. They're waiting to get a look at their glam idol, Palin.

I miss the days when my old band used to play primarily in biker bars. Those guys would request a song (that we were probably going to play anyway) and either slip us a twenty or buy a round. There were two places owned by bikers where I never paid for anything, no matter when I'd pop in.

When the TeaBaggers proclaim these events were attended by thousands (and it's obvious there were a couple hundred PEOPLE, at best!), I think maybe they counting the little critters their bodies are hosts to. I won't defame so explicitly as to suggest exactly what sorta "critters" I'm suggesting, but suffice it to say that there's ointments and shampoos to deal with them if they make you feel uncomfortable! :yoiks:

14. I thought one rule of protesting was . . .

Try to protest somewhere significant. The town of Harry Reid's birth seems a strange venue, especially when it's main attraction seems to be its searchlight :)

I wonder what kind of rake-off Palin will be getting for this speech, and how many teabaggers are alienated from the movement as a result.

This movement, IMO, is not built for success.

After Dick Cheney, I don't know if the teabaggers could have chosen a slimier person to be ad hoc hero. And she's comparable in intelligence to Dubya.

"Searchlight doesn't get many tourists so I'm glad they are choosing to bring all their out-of-state money to my hometown. The influx of money will do the town some good. I encourage everyone to drop by the Nugget to say hello to Verlie and grab a 10 cent cup of coffee." - Harry Reid

I would assume rowdy and disruptive behavior will be dealt with in an appropriate manor. Yes, their will be Blowback if Palin et al. can't keep them under control, and that's what the nation will be watching.

42. I found her comment about stopping the Subaru disturbing.
Something along the lines of, the next time a Subaru with an Obama bumper sticker passes you (or you pass it), STOP THEM, then ask, "How's that hopey-changey thing working out for ya?"

Besides the utter stupidity of it, what's with this "stopping" someone in a moving car and challenging them? Is that a subtle allusion to the action of the guy ramming the car with the Obama sticker?

She shortly then said she "had nothing against Subarus" (ha-ha), but by then the message had been delivered.

The code word is clear: Confrontation. And neither she nor Beck mean just at rallies. I hear "by any means necessary" when she speaks. So long as it lines her pockets, she will say anything.

Caveat: Didn't listen to much more than that. Couldn't do it. I have a strong stomach, but not that strong.

61. Palin defends use of gun imagery while campaigning against Reid's reelection
Source: The Hill

By Alexander Bolton - 03/27/10 05:16 PM ET

Sarah Palin urged a rally of 10,000 conservatives in Searchlight, Nev., to defeat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and defended her use of gun imagery in the campaign.

Palin was star speaker of a rally organized by the Tea Party Express, a national bus tour that will hold rallies across the country, beginning in Searchlight on Saturday and ending in Washington on April 15, when federal taxes are due.

Reid (D-Nev.) grew up in tiny town of Searchlight, population under 800, and still lives there when not in Washington. Crowds choked the streets and clogged the interstate highway into town with a mile-long traffic jam.

Reid was out of town attending a ceremony in nearby Clark County to mark the opening of a 2,900-acre shooting park he helped establish.

"We're not inciting violence. Don't get sucked into the lame-stream media lies."

Mrs. Palin gets spooked and claims she isn't inciting, while defending her 'right to incite'

And that seems logical to her fawning fans?
