Pelosi instructions to Democrats leaving for recess: It’s time to go on offense
By Ian Swanson - 03/27/10 06:00 AM ET

Speaker Nancy Pelosi wants House Democrats to go on offense during the critical two-week recess that begins this weekend.

Members returning to their districts should tout the new healthcare law’s benefits to their constituents, according to the “recess packet” issued by Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) office this week and obtained by The Hill.

“With the passage of health insurance reform, this District Work Period is a critical time to go on offense,” the memo states.

Members should “convey the immediate benefits of health reform to your constituents (such as better prescription drug benefits for seniors, tax credits for small businesses and prohibiting insurance companies from canceling your policy if you get sick),” the memo said.

3. Tell that to Harry Reid.
I'm admiring Pelosi more and more, but I can't say that about Reid.

8. Nancy no longer suffers from the syndrome called" your gullibility is rancid, it needs repair", She
is much more healthy!

She wants a pool table for her seventieth birthday!
God or gopod Bless her! You can't help but love her, if
you want to see things move progressively. In case you
don't know what that means? It means things progress
along in the favor of the people, as a whole. As a team,
you can experience being taken care of.... that is necessary
in a Democracy. I think the repugs want an 18th century
theocracy, where they appoint the king who does evil.

bad shit.... keep working this out so that we don't have to
live their jerk off fantasies.
we are not the shit-faces they want us to be.

18. math still is obligatory
'It means things progress
along in the favor of the people, as a whole. As a team,

in a Democracy."

Until someone actually has to pony up and pay for it. I find the people who find it possible to expect a decreasing % of the population to pay for increasing amounts of total benefits for an increasing percentage of the population strange. This math doesn't work in the real world for too long.

The current deficit explosion is going to kill this country, fiscally and financially.

20. Why bring up the deficit about the health care bill
It actually reduces the deficit while covering 30 million more people.

Were you opposed the Iraq and Afghanistan wars? I was. Were you opposed to bush tax cuts for the wealthy? I was. Are you supportive of increasing the payroll tax on high earners for SS and Medicare? I am? Are you supportive of reducing defense spending, closing jails, eliminating death penalty, increasing education spending, increasing technology research? I am.

All of these will reduce the deficit dramatically.

I am a deficit hawk. We can have a functioning society and reduce debt.

26. we agree on some things, disagree on others, but
I do not for a single second believe the health care stuff is going to do anything but contribute to larger deficits once the program gets into full swing.

I do believe it is hopelessly naive to believe otherwies, given the history of other entitlement programs vs. their original projected 'savings.'

21. Clinton (for all his flaws) left us in fair financial shape.
Then Bush II ran the national car into the ditch and wrapped it around a tree. Now we have to get it towed and repair it before we can get back to business. It was OK to run up debts to pay for Bush's drunken binge that put the car in the ditch, but now you're screaming about frugality when it's time to pay for the tow truck & the mechanic.

25. you are fabricating alleged viewpoints of mine.
"It was OK to run up debts to pay for Bush's drunken binge that put the car in the ditch, but now you're screaming about frugality when it's time to pay for the tow truck & the mechanic."

I never said this, nor implied it, and won't talk further with someone who cannot have any conversation without lying and misrepresenting the views of others (this is you, if you missed it).

23. If we all paid a flat 10% tax (EVERYONE, even corporations and poor folks) then we'd have enough
for everything.

That is what tax is supposed to do, pay for all services by
all peeps equally.

We have a lot of peeps who pay nothing and a lot who pay a
little and nothing is
going to services we need, or very little, compared to the
money that goes to
war, crime and disease economies, which are in the business of
hurting folks
more than helping them.

24. When 1% of the public controls 42% of the wealth, there's only one number to call.
This economy is plenty big enough to take care of everyone.

28. the 1% can avoid taxes by any number of legal means.
the new taxes raised invariably are going to be on the tax-paying middle-class, mainly.

Well Duh! With the actions of the obstructionist Republicans for the last few years, Nancy is just now calling for an offensive. She should have been on the offensive back in 2007 when we had a chance the impeach the idiot son. Grayson would be a much better speaker

11. and kiss "bipartisanship" goodbye.
The radical, rabid, racist, Republican Right will do anything for the sake of their cause so they can't be trusted. Their mantra is, "We must destroy our country in order to save it."

12. Have a fresh-baked cliché on me!
"We offered the Republicans a bipartisan partnership for America for three years.

We gave the Republicans the benefit of every doubt for three years.

We gave the Republicans every opportunity to act in the interest of the public for three years.

Well, America has waited for three years.

Three years is enough.

No more!"

I predict that if members hold open meetings to discuss this, last August will look rather tame in comparison. Many members of Congress are going to be facing some very angry people, if they choose to show their faces in public.
