California should seek to block healthcare plan, Whitman says
Source: LA Times

Whitman was asked by an attendee at a Redondo Beach campaign event whether as governor she would "force your attorney general to file suit" against the reforms, as more than a dozen attorneys general in other states have said they would.

"The answer to that is yes," said Whitman, drawing the most sustained, and loudest, applause of the hourlong event.

* * *

Whitman also said that part of the problem with obtaining insurance in the state is that "right now, there is truly a limit on the number of insurance companies that are allowed to sell insurance in California."

* * *

But state officials said there is no such limit; all companies that agree to California's standards of coverage can be approved.

Whitman also appeared to support allowing out-of-state companies to sell policies in California under the rules that apply in the states where they are based, which opponents argue would negate consumer protections that exist in California and some other states, and lead insurance companies to set up shop in the least-demanding states. So, if Whitman wins, she will push for the Eric Cantor plan apparently.

5. Well, She Was As Good In Internet Companies As Arnold Was At Movie Blockbusters...
Edited on Tue Mar-30-10 10:38 PM by TomCADem
But that does not make either of them qualified to run the State of California, particularly when the promise to both cut taxes and improve education and get tough on crime. You really cannot do all of the above. Also, as Prop 13 showed, if you cut one type of tax (property tax), this causes an increase in other types of taxes (sales taxes), or a cut in services (such as education).

19. Didn't she run Ebay into the ground?
Does anyone have a stock chart of her years at Ebay? I don't think she was anything close to the hit that Arnold was in the movies. Maybe quite the opposite.

14. Is that the same woman who ruined ebay?
I used to enjoy buying and selling stuff on ebay and made friends until ebay started to suck so I stopped. It's been a long while, but if I am correct ebay started to go downward when she took it over and was hated by many ebay sellers.

24. NO SHE WASN'T!!! (and she sucks as a CEO too.)
Edited on Wed Mar-31-10 06:40 PM by tomhayes
She joined in 1998, 3 years into ebay's existence.

And she's possibly the stupidest CEO's of any company because she was at the helm of eBay when they bought Skype.

See, eBay "bought" Skype - but didn't buy the underlying technology - just the name. that menas you can't make or recieve Skype calls under that deal.

The lost BILLIONS because of it.

25. Yup - she gave the big sellers (big companies) the discounts while ...
raising fees on the little indy sellers. It sounds like she wants to do the same for CA. Tax cuts for the big companies - guess where the state would have to get it's money from ... the rest of us.

'Meggie' was notorious on the eBay boards for the lack of 'giveashit' for the small sellers & buyers - you know ... the people that made eBay. I used to do a lot of my shopping there. Since I lived in the boonies it was an ideal way to get a good deal w/out driving to town. I've only recently began to go back to it, when theres something hard to find elsewhere. Still don't like having to wade through the retailers to find the small eBayers, though.

Crap that is.

These people are absolutely FREAK'N NUTSO!

They would drag California down further than it is...thanks IN PART to the
loser Rushpublican'ts that we have had in the past. Dems? No gems but
we've seen enough of the Ahnold, Pete "I promise I won't run for President" Wilson,
Deukmejian, Reagan and the likes.

I've had enough Trickle-Down (results in nothing) from all of them.

Send "NegMeg" Whitman and "Racist" Poizner packing.

21. she has an impressive lack of knowledge of state government
from the article:
"The GOP candidate concedes that as governor, she couldn't force the attorney general to do so but says she would strongly encourage him to."

I hope people are paying attention to this candidate. It seems every time she opens her mouth she panders to right wing morons and demonstrates her profound ignorance.
