RNC cancels Young Eagles events
Source: Politico

In the wake of a scandal around the Republican National Committee's sponsorship of an event at a racy Los Angeles club, the committee is putting parts of its Young Eagles program for younger donors on hold.

With traditional major donors shying away from Chairman Michael Steele, the younger donors, many from the finance industry, had increasingly become a mainstay of the committee. But their unconventional style, which included the L.A. event and a planned weekend at a training compound run by the company formerly known as Blackwater, have raised eyebrows.

The Los Angeles event has prompted the RNC to cancel its remaining plans — though the GOP is still hoping the young donors will raise money.

"We will ... be looking at staff structure and measures for checks and balances. We will devise a plan for moving FORWARD with the club," said a Republican official in an e-mail to members of the Young Eagles.

1. Oh no! Now what are Biff, Buff and Boink going to do?
Maybe E! can do a Kardashian-like show about the Romney Boys?

2. Aw shucks, where are the kids gonna play now?
No "weekend with Blackwater", no more hanging out in S&M clubs, what's a rich little 'puke "financier" to do with his/her time?

3. "young eagles" ..sounds more like young
vultures. It's not like the gops support the environment..or helping out if eagles were on the endangered species list.

Is that too much of a segue?:)

8. She took one for the team.
I'm sure she'll get a pretty decent severance package and she'll end up with some other RNC linked organization...she's got assets, primarily her ability to schmooze with donors. She'll be well rewarded for her willingness to take the fall.

16. Time will tell, but that Facebook link tells me this gal is a playah.
True, she could probably burn her bridges and get her 15 minutes in the spotlight shoveling dirt on the RNC...but then what? I think she knows how the RNC game is played and there are plenty of political welfare jobs for a girl of her talents. I could be wrong, but I think she still has a future in the donor/social networking wing of the RNC. She's even got a bit of celeb status to go along with her resume now. All she has to do is keep it in the family, so to speak.

18. Also, she's young and pretty.
Some fortysomething rich GOP guy will dump his wife for her any day now. If she's not having an affair with one already. She can always go on his payroll.

"Unconventional style"...ah, so that's what they're calling entertaining people at sex clubs now. Got it.

12. I wonder if she's still a "fan of" Michael Steele
I don't get young Republicans at all. Especially given we all just lived through the traumatic Bush years.

6. They sponsor events with donor money to raise even more donor money?
Who was going to pick up the tab for the Camp Blackwater sleepover--the donors, RNC, them?

At least the RNC are now admitting that they had INTENDED to pick up the Voyeur tab.

11. So, who's going to train future the RNC leadership?
Maybe they'll change their name to Young Pioneers? Regardless, the RNC needs their minor league farm system...part of that seasoning is to Party with the big boys. Who else will catty on the hypocrisy and corruption if they can't promote the best and brightest?

OT, but Eric Brown's day job is selling office supplies to RNC pols (Chuck DeVore for one)...by night he's entertaining RNC donors in strip clubs. Best line I read on the blogs last night (T-Bogg natch)..."What can Brown do for you?"

13. "finance industry"??????
These are the insufficiently taxed vampires who got outrageous bonuses because of OUR tax money bailout.

How nice to know we were funding the RNC and Voyeur.
