WHO To Probe Rise In Iraq's Deformed Babies
Source: SKY News

Sky News first exposed the problem almost two years ago when we reported on babies like Fatima Ahmed, who was born with two heads.

In May 2008, her mother Shukriya pleaded for help to understand what went so wrong with her child.

Since then the rate of birth deformities has increased, with doctors and undertakers telling us they see several cases of abnormalities every day.

Over the months Sky News has revealed a catalogue of case studies including children born with missing limbs, abnormal abdomens and all sorts of congenital disorders.

7. I worked in Idaho falls.
the WHO dismissed DU as a cause for cancer. It found no basis for any medical impact and that was 15 years ago.

My experience with nuclear materials both depleted and enriched span almost 10 years. Dont eat DU. Dont eat the battery in your laptop. cadmium and lithium ions are nasty.

24. Pavulon: why the negation? When depleted uranium is pulverized on contact of warheads
it makes nanopowders that you will breathe whether you like it or not.
Then the nanoparticles will travel in your body, too small to be slowed down by usual barriers and all the while being active ane emitting ionizing, cancerous particles that damage normal DNA.
Then they get washed by rain to rivers and seas and come back in the fish etc that people eat.
Just like the rest of the shit like antibiotics, mercury etc that humans dump in the oceans.
You are a criminal in denying these deaths (homocides or genocide) and suffering of the newborns.

26. Oh I am a criminal all right, I handled the munition in 30mm and 120mm
form to go into helicopters and tanks that later killed Serb tanks with it. I worked for a contract that designed nuclear reactor parts for the Navy after that.

How about you get off you righteous ass and link to the WHO and IAEA articles that back your position, you know like I did.

I spent plenty of time as a machinist working with shops that turned enriched uranium at the 90% range. I'm pretty comfortable with its disposition.

Hey did you know there were natural nuclear reactors created by geological events in the earth where materials were actually at critical mass and sustaining fission? Guess not.

Links you happy accusatory bastard!

27. The WHO study was flawed. The outcome was predetermined.
WHO didn't accept the research from the US DOD Armed Forces Radiobiological Research Institute.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/today/reports/international/uranium_20061101.shtml

It’s ironic that the major player that Dr Baverstock believes was behind the decision block publication of his study – was the nation state that conducted the research he was citing: The United States' Department of Defence Armed Forces Radiobiological Research Institute: a credible State laboratory. A point I put to Dr Repacholi.

DR REPACHOLI: The problem that W.H.O had and it went right up to the Director General's office that it was finally disapproved at that level was that on the basis of the evidence that we have - we can't conclude that it is harmful - and to have a paper from another W.H.O staff member that says we absolutely think it's harmful - makes W.H.O look a bit odd.
STICKLER: With the greatest respect - that's going to have very little truck with someone who may get seriously ill because of depleted uranium the fact that the W.H.O. may look a bit odd?

35. The IAEA is why WHO whitewashed and continues to whitewash DU
studies. Any time there is as much money involved as there is in nuclear power, there are going to be lies about its dangers. Lying for money is one of the oldest behaviors.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/may/28/who-nuclear-power-chernobyl

Fifty years ago, on 28 May 1959, the World Health Organisation's assembly voted into force an obscure but important agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency – the United Nations "Atoms for Peace" organisation, founded just two years before in 1957. The effect of this agreement has been to give the IAEA an effective veto on any actions by the WHO that relate in any way to nuclear power – and so prevent the WHO from playing its proper role in investigating and warning of the dangers of nuclear radiation on human health.

<snip>

For example, investigations into the health impacts of the Chernobyl nuclear accident in Ukraine on 26 April 1986 have been effectively taken over by IAEA and dissenting information has been suppressed. The health effects of the accident were the subject of two major conferences, in Geneva in 1995, and in Kiev in 2001. But the full proceedings of those conferences remain unpublished – despite claims to the contrary by a senior WHO spokesman reported in Le Monde Diplomatique.

Meanwhile, the 2005 report of the IAEA-dominated Chernobyl Forum, which estimates a total death toll from the accident of only several thousand, is widely regarded as a whitewash as it ignores a host of peer-reviewed epidemiological studies indicating far higher mortality and widespread genomic damage. Many of these studies were presented at the Geneva and Kiev conferences but they, and the ensuing learned discussions, have yet to see the light of day thanks to the non-publication of the proceedings.

39. Fine. Ignore all the other hits on that search, more than 15,000 which
signify that the WHO and IAEA are NOT independent, and not surprisingly, are captured by industrial interests. It pays those companies to do so. Lying for money is one of the oldest human activities.

I'll bid you adieu since you are not interested in any discussion of any facts, but simply repeat the mantra of there is no proof from the WHO or IAEA. Here's hoping you get a teachable moment sometime in the future.

injectables designed to negate this are far FAR more concerning than DU in my mind. The first GW war was waged in a nasty environment.

25. I served with other Engineers in Bosnia who were in the GW.
Edited on Thu Apr-01-10 02:16 PM by Pavulon
the iraqis lit oil fires in kuwait. This choked the air with filth. So recovering broken tanks and depo of gear was a filthy process. Infantry and combat support unite were required to take drugs designed to combat the effects of Sarin and other agents Iraq used on iranians and kurds. The idea was to stop the impact of nerve agents, rather than react to them by using the auto injector.

This was and is a chemical not approved by the FDA to my knowledge. Journal Toxicology has information on the drug but no real studies. It is suspected the Iraqis either deployed or destroyed chemical agents and exposed troops to them. This is not confirmed. Many suspect that a limited deployment was used and kept quiet to avoid having to retaliate with tactical nuclear weapons.

Most nerve agents are stored in a binary form. IE, they are two ingredients mixed in a shell, bomb, or other method. By themselves they are highly toxic, and when burned are just as toxic.

Unlike the other posts this is just my opinion and shit I heard other guys say, not really backed up with science. I do believe that many chronic diseases suffered by veterans of that war are due to chemical exposure. It is difficult to study the Iraqi army from that time as they were either destroyed on the field or are not reachable.

5. Great, expect the same result from when we used it in BOSNIA.
nada, WHO dismissed DU as a cause. DU is a political topic, not medical. Hey, dont eat lead, heavy metals are bad for you.

This story is recycled lies, have seen it at least a dozen times on DU in the last year. Right next to the evil new weapons used by the "jews" in the last little spat over there.

10. I am familiar with the 30 and 120 mm round
and their use in bosnia by the army. I am familiar with the MSDS on the material. I handled it and transported it in Germany and in Bosnia.

Its a heavy metal, not an organo phosphate chemical. Like lead, dont eat it.

I spent several years working for a company that designed reactor components. This science by international bodies is sound.

This aint some palestinian doctor in the west bank or falluja claiming evil weapons is mutating babies.

13. What evil new weapons did the Israelis' use?
I am aware of willy peter. You could tell that from tv images before they had admitted using it but it certainly isn't new. This is quoted from your link; "It is not known whether children differ from adults in their susceptibility to health effects from DU exposure." Not reassuring, nor are these short term pronouncements on effect. I know a Palestinian Doctor, very competent, this was unnecessary.

14. Tungsten. You know the penetrator used in MBT before DU
still some in Knox and Bragg when I left there in 90's. DU is a political topic, not a medical issue. Its effects are known, like lead, and OP chemicals. That was the new evil weapon.

The claim was 1 in 4 children with birth defects, that rate far exceeds that around chernobyl in the ukraine. Its bunk.

How the VA treats sick vets is a different topic, exposure to OP chemicals in GW1, petroleum products, and potentially antidotes for sarin (or binary chemicals that make up sarin) are far more concerning.

There have been no cancer spikes in Bosnia or in Kuwait where we used LARGE amounts of DU. The evidence it extensive.

22. Like lead, or any other heavy metal
it has accepted safe levels. The WHO covers this very exactly in the Bosnia paper. Nothing used to fight wars is all that tasty in your water. Diesel fuel, motor oil, and other chemicals from weed killer to nerve gas are all bad.

Pretending DU is some miracle baby deforming, old lady killing, palette clefting super weapon is insulting to anyone who sat through a college level chemistry class.
