Ford to show off Lincoln MKZ hybrid today
Source: Detroit Free Press

Ford said today that it will introduce a hybrid version of the Lincoln MKZ this fall and plans to market the vehicle as the most fuel-efficient U.S. luxury hybrid.

The 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid is to be revealed at a news conference today at the New York auto show.
Ford decided to develop a hybrid version of a Lincoln because of increasing interest in hybrids among luxury car buyers, said Greg Scott, group marketing manager for the MKZ, Fusion and Milan. "Luxury customers want to take a leadership role," Scott said.

The Lincoln is expected to get 41 m.p.g. in the city and 36 on the highway, Scott said.

Lincoln's expected fuel efficiency is better than all 2010 Lexus hybrids including the compact Lexus HS 250h, which gets a combined 35 m.p.g., and the midsize Lexus GS 450h, which gets a combined 23 m.p.g.

1. Enough with the luxury hybrids that get less than 55 MPG. Geesh.

Yawn.

Let's have an economy hybrid that gets more than 60 MPG. and costs less than $22,000.

If you want to thrill me, how about a plug-in hybrid for under $20,000.

4. Keep dreaming.
The concept of an affordable energy efficient car for the masses doesn't compute for the auto corps.

They have given up trying to build a better mouse trap, they only build the old ones with "greener" marketing.

5. All this crap about fuel efficinecy
.
.
.

hell

in the 70's I had an old Vauxhall that run like shit and got over 40 miles per gallon

That's 40 YEARS ago

We should have been able to double that kind of mileage -

We can bomb the shit out of every country on the globe, but not get decent gas mileage?

When the USA wanted the "bomb" - they moved heaven and earth to get them scientists from Germany to create the "ultimate" weapon

Can't they make a fuel efficient car?

OH YEAH, I know they CAN

BUT WILL THEY???

Not so long as the oil barons are running the country - - -

(sigh)
