'Oriental yeti' discovered in China

A creature dubbed the 'oriental yeti' is being examined by scientists after emerging from ancient woodlands in remote central China.
Published: 10:34PM BST 05 Apr 2010

The hairless beast was trapped by hunters in Sichuan province after locals reported spotting what they thought was a bear.

Hunter Lu Chin explained: "It looks a bit like a bear but it doesn't have any fur and it has a tail like a kangaroo."

"It also does not sound like a bear - it has a voice more like a cat and it is calling all the time - perhaps it is looking for the rest of its kind or maybe it's the last one?

...specimen of whatever it is.

I love cryptozoology but IMO this ain't it...by a longshot.

Edited on Mon Apr-05-10 05:24 PM by Poll_Blind

Maybe not exactly it but I'm pretty pleased with the call. Animals with the mange can look like entirely different animals. Bears with the mange don't, IMO, look like bears at all.

17. Those who mock Sa-be, they say, have problems with honesty...
One of the seven core teachings yet to be embraced by those who have come to live on Turtle Island (North America).

HONESTY ~ SA-BE (BIGFOOT)
Our great Creator chose the Sa-be (Bigfoot) to represent the spirit of honesty... it is a very hard thing to do to, be honest, so maybe that is why the spirit of Sa-be (Bigfoot) is so elusive. We see it and it’s gone because we have a hard time being honest.

The elders say the best way you could show honesty or honor the spirit of the Sa-be (Bigfoot), is to speak from your heart and listen to your spirit that has given you the inspiration of the words you are to speak. When you are honest with yourself, you are true to the words that you speak.

"They will come to a fork in the road. One road will lead to Materialism and Destruction.....for almost all living creatures....The other road will lead to a Spiritual Way upon which the Native People will be standing...This path will lead to the lighting of the 8th fire, a period of eternal peace, harmony and a "New Earth" where the destruction of the past will be healed

Prophecy of the 8th Fire from Anishnabe teachings of the Seven Fires -

18. Poor little thing. I doubt that it's a new species.
More likely, it's an already known animal with either a skin disease, or a genetic anomaly interfering with its coat.

With the lack of environmental regulations in China, I wouldn't doubt this is actually just a red panda that's suffering horribly.

27. Dunno, but it's SOME poor creature with a severe skin disease that has
caused patchy alopecia and lesions.

Needs a skin scraping, fungal culture, and skin biopsy to start.

42. Bingo
Of all the speculation I've seen here, this is the best observation. This is a canid. Look at the ears. Wild dogs in Africa have heads and ears like this. The hairlessness could be normal. It is not necessarily disease. This is a dog.

37. What a misleading title
That is no Yeti. A Yeti is from the Himalayas, is covered in thick white or brown or reddish hair, and is 6-8 feet tall. As a huge fan of Cryptozoology, I'm hugely disappointed. :(
