Suspect in Va. congressman threat (Cantor) not competent (to stand trial)
Source: AP/Google

PHILADELPHIA — Prosecutors say a Philadelphia man charged with threatening a ranking congressman in an Internet video has multiple personalities and is not currently competent to stand trial.

A federal magistrate is sending 38-year-old Norman Leboon to a prison hospital in North Carolina for psychiatric testing.

Public defender Kai Scott did not challenge the preliminary incompetency finding at a hearing Tuesday. The judge says Leboon could later be found competent to stand trial.

Authorities have not linked the video threat to a bullet recently fired through Cantor's campaign office in Richmond. Police have determined that was a random act.

1. Exiling him from the state?
There are no competent facilities for psychiatric evaluation in Pennsylvania?

You in Pennsylvania need to get some social conciousness even if it means you've got to raise your taxes.

5. It isn't a state prosecution. It's Federal and the Feds tend to
move you where there is a space for you in the Federal system.

2. MPD as a diagnosis is VERY questionable at best. I've seen it outright
faked too many times. Doubt it's even real in the first place.

I was gonna say "Lock him in the green kitchen!"

And.. "prison hospital in North Carolina for psychiatric testing." What, are they sending him down here to Blackwater?

I don't buy it.

4. That means he is at Butner with Bernie Madoff.
Other inmates being held at Butner include Omar Abdel-Rahman, also known as the blind sheik. John Rigas, founder of Adelphia Communications, and his son Tim are also in residence. Also present, Carmine Persico head of the Colombo crime family and Jonathan Pollard,an American who spied for Israel.

Former famous prisoners - Jim Bakker, John Hinckley and Duke Cunningham.

Its just up the road from my house.

Nonsense! They are too dangerous and must have been held at Gitmo. We here in the US just can't handle anything but 1st time pot smokers!

7. Who would have thought a guy who threatened Babe the Pig wouldn't be crazy?
I mean, threatening livestock is one thing. But threatening fictional livestock? That's just zany!

12. Yeah
I heard a local RW radio idiot (and he is an idiot) making fun of the guy specifically for the Babe thing

the radio guy didn't realize that he was supposed to elevate Leboon as a real threat so as to wash over the Magic Bullet story

13. Tom Bliley's ghost (even though Bliley still lives)
Edited on Tue Apr-06-10 06:45 PM by underpants
Cantor was annointed by Bliley to succeed him. The Chamber of Commerce, tobacco, aluminum, etc approved and Cantor got his position.

That pretty much sums up Cantor- he is my representative, sadly
