(Binghamton, NY) Mayor Postponing Plans to Place a "Cost of War" Sign Outside City Hall
Source: wbng

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Ryan announced last week that a 4 foot-wide sign would be mounted on the building.

The move to postpone the installation comes after the mayor's office got complaints that the sign would insult American troops.

Ryan says postponing the plan will allow more time for discussion.

A local peace activist group was paying for the 6-thousand dollar sign.

It would display how much local taxpayer money has been spent on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

3. what the sign actually insults are war mongering pigs...
...whether in the military or not. They don't want the rest of us to keep the costs of their piggery in the forefront of our minds. They like it better under a rock, where sunlight never reaches.

...were FIGHTING for "the truth".

Have you noticed lately - those silly, made in China magnetic "ribbons" have pretty much disappeared from the trunk lids of cars? It's tough to lay out a buck or two for one of those when the likes of Coburn and Bunning cut short unemployment while at the same time backing throwing TRILLIONS down the bottomless pits of Iraq and Afghanistan! :dunce:

9. $130,498,230 (and counting) so far for the good people of Binghamton.
Do you think more people would wake up and pay attention if they realized the obscene amount of money that has been, continues to be and will in the future be wasted on these stupid wars?

Come on Tea Baggers, lets's see you protest something like this and not HCR or whatever it is that you're whining about every freaking day!

10. Ahh my former hometown...
glad to see that it's still as f'ed up as always.

I was never a fan of Mayor Ryan when he was Public Defender, but it seems like his intentions are good here. The taxpayers aren't funding the actual sign itself. However, I could understand why some people may be upset over the fact that it is being displayed on City Hall itself.
