Internet sites reveal more about Ohio man arrested at Asheville airport
Source: Asheville Citizen-Times

An Ohio man arrested Sunday at Asheville Regional Airport with a gun and police scanners around the time President Barack Obama flew out on Air Force One wrote on one Web site that he planned to become a police officer.

A variety of social networking and personal Web sites also show that Joseph Sean McVey is a HAM radio enthusiast.

...In 2007, McVey posted a blog on his Myspace profile that said he got a job working “as IntelliTarget Marketing. (Verifying addresses on magazine subscriptions and, soon, political ‘advertising’ for the One Million Republicans, a new Republican group postered by former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay).”

This guy is linked to none other than Tom DeLay! Imagine if this was a Democrat linked to Bill Clinton, it would be the top news story on every right wing news organization in the country. Where are all the talking heads screaming about this guy's links to the Republican party and Tom Delay?

Uh-oh. I guess I'd better not give my callsign. He owns police scanners, too. Now I'm really in trouble.

6. and the article mentioned that he was having "girl troubles" according
to some of his posts ...

central/southeast Ohio, they don't tolerate gays much there ... maybe he's having issues where he is unsure of his sexuality. My point here is, maybe if he was allowed to admit to himself what he tries to deny, then he might be better adjusted, and might not be in as much trouble.

But this is in absence of more details.

Why would you assume he is gay?

What on earth makes you believe he's gay? Every troubled person isn't a closeted gay, if that's what you mean.

Well, that can be difficult in a country that thinks "guns, guts and god" are in charge. I guess he's discovering now life actually isn't an episode of "Southland".

Fancies himself a Storm-Chaser and fan of Ashville. With no links reported to RW sites etc. And tweeting about tornado alerts in the hours leading up to this.

11. If he's not a potential assassin, he'd better learn not to try to meet the President
while heavily armed.

15. If it weren't for the gun part we'd never have heard about him.
Do we know why he had the gun? It doesn't seem to fit with the other info we have about ham radio and such. Or was it part of his policeman shtick?

16. Define Heavily Armed
Personally I think trying to get near the President with a T-72 Tank would be rather difficult. A Bushmaster in the back of a SUV like the DC sniper or a .22 revolver like Hinckley used much more probable. This gentleman reportedly had some type of handgun? Probably what is currently carried in thousands of tractor-trailer rigs.

He may not be the brightest bulb in the lot. But this sounds far more like somebody doing something stupid. On a normal day nobody would have thought about someone parking at the airport with a handgun in the car. It's not supposed to happen but it does. Most however realize that security will be a whole lot tighter around POTUS and wisely keep more distance.

24. Police Buffs
aka Wannabes.Gotta tell ya - they creep me out. Google up "police buffs", you'll find a lot of stories about guys who love to tool around with lights/sirens on their cars, dress like cops, talk like cops. It seems to be one of the indicators for serial murderers, and possibly to child molestation.
