New immigration law won't hurt economy, Arizona governor says
Source: CNN

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Monday deflected concerns that the state's new immigration law will hurt economic development, saying many businesses have long wanted tougher action.

The new law requires Arizona police to determine whether people are in the United States legally if there is a reason to suspect they aren't. Brewer signed the controversial legislation into law on Friday.

"The bottom line is that when I go about meeting with businesses that come into Arizona ... they want to know that we have a safe and secure environment into which to move their businesses here," Brewer said at an Arizona Town Hall event in Tucson. "They want to know that their employees are going to have a quality of life that they've had in the places where they're moving from to move here."

"I believe it's not going to have the kind of economic impact that some people think that it might," Brewer, a Republican, said.

6. Brewer is not elected Governor
She moved into office when Janet went to D.C. and she is just following the republican forces she thinks she will get behind her to beat her challenger Dean Martin in the primaries. The candidate that will win most likely is Terry Goddard the Democrat and this new law will be shot down in the courts, but it will kill off Brewer. Don't worry folks, we in Arizona will take care of this, We are working on it, make no mistake about it.

11. It's an on-line poll

The margin of error would be hard to calculate, but would be extremely high.

Although I do believe a majority of Americans would support this, I still see it hitting the state financially. Especially when the lawsuits start.

16. Even if it weren't Corporate News Network,
online polls are bogus. How many times have you DUed a poll. It's a fun diversion but both sides play that game, making the polls useless.

Think of all the money you can make suing the state government for harassment and racism when you are getting stopped for just not being white enough. Hope some people get aggressive and try to bankrupt the state.

how are they going to operate without customers. If the people in the rest of the country and those in AZ against the law boycott AZ where's the money coming from. Are all republicans stupid, or do they just act that way.

25. Palast thinks this is another elaborate voter-caging scheme
Like Harris in Florida, Brewer, who used to be Arizona's secretary of state, is known for having thrown a large number of hispanic citizens off the voter roles (because they usually vote democratic.) This law can be used to intimidate them to stay away from the polls on election day for fear of "being arrested if you can't prove you're a citizen."

32. Lots of wishful thinking brewing from the gov's brain
She says: "There won't be any racial profiling." Well, how will this law have any teeth WITHOUT it?

"The economy won't be affected." Too bad this bill embarrassed Arizona enough to be avoided and even boycotted by Mexico and the city of San Francisco.
