DETROIT -- A judge says nine members of a Michigan-based militia accused of trying to plot war against the government can be released from jail on bond.

U.S. District Judge Victoria Roberts on Monday overturned the April 2 decision of a federal magistrate judge. She says all can be released with electronic monitoring devices and other strict conditions.

The government says the nine members of a southern Michigan militia called Hutaree are radicals who planned to kill police officers and more. They were charged in March with conspiracy to commit sedition and attempted use of weapons of mass destruction.

2. Amazing.
These individuals who are accused of plotting war on the US can post bond and walk.

And how many innocent Iraqis have we murdered who had no intention whatsoever on attacking the US?

10. Hey fascisthunter, do you know anything about Judge Victoria A. Roberts?

...Hon. Victoria A. Roberts of Detroit is currently a federal judge for the Eastern District of Michigan and served as the 62nd president of the State Bar of Michigan. Her strong leadership in voluntary legal services to the poor and dedication to pro bono and public service initiatives earned her nomination by the D. Augustus Straker Bar Association. During her State Bar presidency, she appointed the State Bar Task Force on Racial/Ethnic and Gender Issues in the Courts and Legal Profession and implemented the State Bar's first "Access to Justice for All Hotline" for the public during the State Bar's Annual Meeting....

My daughters and I gotta live in this state with these madmen! Keep them in jail!

A Clinton-appointed, federal judge. Can't even vote her out. And this hours after a car bomb disarmed on Broadway.

People in office better start taking these nutjobs seriously. One Oklahoma was more than enough.

5. Hmm. Did Jose Padilla get the same rights?
I don't get why they aren't being locked up indefinitely without charges. These guys are certainly as much of a threat to our security as Jose Padilla, so enemy combatant status would be proper.

9. Technically, the Constitution says you can't impose excessive bail.
Case law says it has to be granted unless there's a substantial, immediate flight risk, a risk the accused will kill the witnesses, etc.
