LAT: Kerry Shadowed by FBI During Activism (No evidence illegal activity)
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-kerryfbi22mar22,1,1463969.story?coll=la-home-headlines

As a high-profile activist who crossed the United States criticizing the Nixon administration's role in the Vietnam War, John F. Kerry was closely monitored by FBI agents for more than a year, according to intelligence documents reviewed by the Los Angeles Times.

In 1971, in the months after the Navy veteran and decorated war hero argued before Congress against continued U.S. involvement in the conflict, the FBI stepped up its infiltration of Vietnam Veterans Against the War, the protest group Kerry helped direct, the files show.

The FBI documents indicate that wherever Kerry went, agents and informants were following -- including appearances at VVAW-sponsored antiwar events in Washington, D.C.; Kansas City, Mo.; Springfield, Ohio; and Urbana, Ill. The files never report that Kerry broke any laws. Still, the FBI recorded the content of his speeches and took photographs of him and fellow activists, and the dispatches were filed to FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover and President Nixon.

<snip>

They also suggest that Kerry's memories of some of his antiwar activities, including the date he left his position on the VVAW national steering committee, were inaccurate. Kerry has stated that he left the group in summer 1971, but the files show that he did not quit until late fall that year.

3. Reagan and Bush had the FBI on Kerry when he was investigating their
illegal and covert activities in BCCI, IranContra and CIA drugrunning.

That was Kerry's reward for uncovering government corruption.....having his ass tailed by Bush loyalists at the FBI.

The good thing is that they never found anything to bring him down. The stuff they did contrive to throw at him was so absurd and easy to refute it never stuck.

5. Heck, it was a badge of honor
to be on Hoover's list. Gotta figure most of us were, if only for being students at the time.

7. Our tax dollars hard at work
What warranted the FBI to follow Kerry?

Why did the FBI inflitrate the VVWA?

If this much money had been spent on welfare fraud,
I guarantee that the anti-government folks would be
denoucing big-brother government loud and clear.

8. So who released the info?
Gary Aldrich had been saying Kerry should release his medical records and FBI file - so did Aldrich have something to do with this?
