10 killed in Iraq stadium bombing

A suicide bomb attack at a football stadium in Iraq has killed 10 people and injured a further 120, according to police officials.

Thousands of spectators were sitting in the stadium to watch the football match in the northern town of Tal Afar, a predominantly Shia Turkmen town to the west of Mosul.

A militant group called Islamic State of Iraq had earlier issued a warning to Shias in Iraq of coming “dark days soaked with blood”.

No group has claimed responsibility, but officials say the method is similar to other attacks carried out by al-Qaeda.
