Bill to Put Reagan on $50 Bill Opposed by 8 in 10, Poll Shows
Source: Bloomberg

Representative Patrick McHenry, a North Carolina Republican, wants Ronald Reagan to replace Ulysses S. Grant on the $50 bill. Almost 8 in 10 Americans oppose the idea, a new poll shows.

Reagan, a Republican, was the “last great president of the 20th century” who “rallied the nation and won the Cold War,” McHenry said in an interview. McHenry proposed a bill on March 2 seeking to redesign the $50 bill and substitute Reagan’s image for the likeness of the Civil War hero.

McHenry’s bill is widely opposed, according to a Marist College poll. Seventy-nine percent said the suggestion is a bad idea, compared with 12 percent who supported the plan. Nine percent said they are unsure.

Eighty-three percent of Democrats oppose the idea and more than 7 in 10 Republicans do not back the switch.

3. OH VOMIT! FUCK REAGAN!!
Yuck.

I think they should yank his name off the airport, too. And while they're at it, yank Bush's name off that airport as well.

Why honor those who very obviously DID NOT represent ALL OF THE PEOPLE?

Of course, Reagan can be excused by cause of mental defect. But Bush was cognizant of all the covert crimes he committed.

Once in a while, the shroud that is the media's deification of Ronnie is pierced, and we see what the majority of America really thinks of Reagan.

19. People want a long dead drunk
Grant's drinking problem is as mythical as Ronnie's winning the Cold War.

Grant as a drunk was a story promoted by his opponents. He was no tea bagg---uh tea todler, but he was not a drunk and FOR SURE, he was a better president than Reagan. For one, he actually commanded in a real war that made a huge difference to America, rather than play at war in a film studio that accomplished nothing and is mostly forgotten.

And the USSR collapsed under its own weight. Reagan had little to no effect on that outcome. Reagan may have merely been Prez when the USSR went down, but he actively started the USA on it's downward spiral.

Put Reagan's ass on a wooden nickle.!

40. Remember what Lincoln said about that "long dead drunk"
A group of temperance people (at least I think this is how the story goes) went to Lincoln to ask that he be removed from command for his drinking. Lincoln told them to find out what brand of whiskey Grant enjoyed, so that a case of it might be sent to all the other commanders in the field.

But yeah, you're right...you could probably get Nixon's face on the $50 easier than you could get Reagan's. But the problem with all this is, there's not enough money out there to change things just for vanity's sake.

13. Even Dick heads wear condoms
I think of two things when I think of him-

One is the tape of then Governor Raygun berating the administration of Berkley, telling them to go get those fucking college students out of the buildings. "Who is running this goddamn place"

2.
It was a postcard that had Raygun with a huge condom on his head with the caption... "Even dick heads wear condoms".

30.  Looks like attempt at a twofer
I think this idiot Repub from North Carolina is looking to kill two birds with one stone. First get the Government to take off Grant's picture of the bill. Gee isn't he the one who had a big part in kicking the confederate armies ass that couldn't be part of why he picked the $50 to change could it? Then put on Grampa Ronnies mug on it cuz he is there big hero (couldn't stand him as Governor of California and liked him even less as President). I think we should donate a flash light to each Republican because it must be really hard to see with your head that far up your ass.

57. I think many things should be named after Reagan.
Republicans keep trying to polish this turd in the desperate hope of basking now in the popularity he had in the Eighties, before people realized where his policies would lead America, its people and its economy.

Let's name things after Reagan to which Reagan's contribution was enormous.

Reagan Plutonomy

Reagan Global Economy Crash of 2008

Reagan De-Regulation of Big Business

Reagan "Too Big to Fail" Enterprises.

Reagan Business Amorality.

Reagan Greed

Reagan McCarthyism Insanity

Reagan Hollywood Blacklisting

Reagan Dim Bulb Mentality

Reagan Debt

Reagan Deficit

Reagan Predatory Business Practices

Reagan Trickle Down Economics That Don't Quite Manage to, You Know, Actually Trickle Down

Reagan Union-Busting

Reagan Firings

Reagan Hatred of American Government

Reagan Hatred of Federal Employees

Reagan Social Security Payroll Contribution Theft (talk to your mail carrier)

Reaganesque Contempt for Ordinary Americans

Reagan Exportation of American Jobs

Reaganesque Posturing

Reagan's Schwartzenegger

Reagan's Dummya

Reaganesque Unthinking Idolatry of Big Business

Reaganesque Taking of Credit Where No Credit is Due

Reaganesque Ducking of Blame Where Blame is Due

well, you get the idea.

Probably because conservatives believe the stuff their told to about taxes, spending, and endless wars, and see that Reagan didn't live up to their ideals on any of those.
