5. Correct BBC link here for you.
Kabul suicide car bombing 'kills at least 19'

A suicide car bomb that targeted a Nato convoy in the Afghan capital, Kabul, has killed at least 19 people, including six foreign troops.

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the rush hour attack in the west of the city, where parliament and other government buildings are located.

More than 50 people - mostly Afghan civilians - were hurt in the explosion.

It is the deadliest attack on foreign forces in the heavily-guarded capital since a Taliban assault last September.

6. Suicide bomb attack on NATO convoy kills at least 18 in Kabul
Source: National Post (Canada)

KABUL -- A suicide car bomber attacked a NATO convoy in the Afghan capital on Tuesday, killing six foreign soldiers and at least 12 Afghan civilians in one of the deadliest strikes on Kabul in more than a year.

The United States believes the troop "surge" can wrest the initiative from the Taliban in key population centres and allow American forces to start withdrawing from the unpopular and costly conflict next year.

9. It isn't charming to support this war of aggression.
Just as it was not with Vietnam, for instance. It was a dividing line issue that as is this. This war of aggression is not one bit more "progressive" than the war against Vietnam.

11. The abetters of the baby killer LBJ thought themselves progressive.
But history damns them, along with all those who stand against independence, progress, and freedom for peoples.

16. Uh, oppression breeds resistance.
Imperialist occupation WILL engender acts of resistance. Hopefully these acts do not target civilians. But I don't know up a people that take occupation lying down, whether France, Ireland, or Afghanistan.

18. Why is that?
You think the women will be freed by US occupation? The US is responsible in large part for the emergence of fundamentalism as a potent political force in the region. That is the irony. At one time, before the US intervened in Afghanistan's affairs, women were engineers, doctors, jurists, and walked down the streets of Kabul in skirts and with uncovered faces.

19. Pff. Afghanistan was a "progressive" Muslim nation for about six years.
Apart from that brief window, the country and region has been anathema to women's rights since about the 7th Century.

You can certainly lay blame for the existence of the Taliban at the feet of the U.S., that's pretty reasonable. We left the vacuum that allowed Punjabi jihadi, Deobandi muslims from Pak (Ahl-e-Hadith et al) to make their presence known in the Taliban movement.

But don't paint pre-USSR/USA Afghanistan as some kind of women's paradise that would've flourished under our neglect. That's not irony, that's just ignorant crap.

20. So, ir's "neglect" or colonialism.
That says it all about your worldview. Afghanistan and the US must have perfectly equal relations based on mutual respect and non-interference. That was the whole point of eliminating the cruel system of colonialism.

14. Taliban suicide bomb hits NATO convoy, kills 18
A suicide bomber detonated his vehicle near a U.S. convoy Tuesday, killing 18 people, including six troops — five Americans and a Canadian — in the deadliest attack on NATO in the Afghan capital in eight months.

The Canadian, Col. Geoff Parker, 42, was the highest-ranking member of the Canadian Forces to die in Afghanistan since the Canadian mission began in 2002, the country's military said.
