The oil has probably moved 80-100 miles closer to the Keys than what is seen in this video.

1. You need to use exact LBN title
for LBN which in this case is : Exclusive: NASA Satellite Zoom of Oil Spill on May 17 from the BP Deepwater Horizon rig's wellhead

5. Unholy oily Crapola ! Tampa is about to get totally schmeared
Edited on Tue May-18-10 05:10 AM by SpiralHawk
And the Republicons just picked Tampa for their 2012 national convention?

How appropriate. They can bask in the toxic glop and bilious stank of the oil-crony disaster their perverse Family Values of greed have created.

6. Maybe they can buy some of those pumps from Jeb Bush's friends
and pump the gloop out to the big hole where they were going to store the nuclear waste? Oh I forgot...those pumps didn't work. Maybe they could stick the pumps in the pipe?(junk shot)

How is sticking a 4" suction pipe into a 5' well casing going to collect 20% of the oil being ejected?(I'm calling BULLSHIT on that excuse/fix)

13. Your signature text...
is quite disturbing.

"Faith is much better than belief. Belief is when someone else does the thinking."?

Belief merely implies the acceptance of a claim as true. And faith is a sub section of belief, with the additional attribute of not being based on evidence. Faith based beliefs derive from scripture, imagination and anecdote, where even less thinking is necessary for accepting it. You must think about a claim and its supporting evidence to accept it, however "faith" specifically implies that the foundation for the claim has no evidence to support it. To have faith you have to think even less than to have a belief based on evidence. Relying even more on "when someone else does the thinking", you just have to accept the scripture/anecdotes. I find it disturbing just how far you've flipped it on its head.

11. It's not 5 foot
It's about 21 inches. That's a six inch inside a 21 inch. The six inch has a rubber stopper around it, to plug the annulus.

20. I don't think so.
The oil has been picked up by the loop current, it heads roughly S or SSE at that point. It would take several days straight of strong SW or W winds to drive the oil to Tampa Bay, and that isn't likely to happen this time of year. More likely, is that the Loop Current continues to carry the oil to the Gulf Stream, where prevailing easterly winds will deposit it on the Upper Keys and SE Florida from Miami to Palm Beach.

one ended up on a beach in Jacksonville the other went in the St. Lucie Inlet near Stuart, FL. Areas further north than Palm Beach WILL be affected.

24. If its the same stuff as I mentioned
had no affect on fish stocks in either English Channel or North Sea to my knowledge. I obviously can't speak for affect on stuff at the beginning of the food chain - plankton etc. Loss of that may be first noticeable on birds breeding habits : think so anyway.

Yes - a very sad thing indeed.

26. The folk around the gulf wouldn't know dispersant from shampoo
There's a lot of misinformation, and hysteria. This reminds me of the OJ Simpson case, a lot of coverage about nothing. Thus far the spilled volume is less than one tanker load.

Edit...Depending on the grade and temperature of the crude oil being weighed...A metric ton = a bit over seven barrels, a barrel equals 42 US Gallon or 158.9873 liters'

A TI class supertanker can carry up to 441,585 DWT, 3,166,353 barrels

The currents are going to move it away. Besides, there isn't that much oil left. It's being biodegraded by bacteria.
