10. I've seen contractors
guarding the main gates at Altus AFB and Fort sill, OK. But the funny thing is both Fairchild and McCord AFB in WA have SP's at the gate. I wonder if that's a red state v blue state thing?

2. Running the gates will get you shot at several installations
especially those that maintain nuclear weapons.

5. Update, to say the least:
http://www.ajc.com/news/nation-world/fatal-shooting-outside-macdill-531234.html

A man who sped away from base security on a motorcycle after an altercation at MacDill Air Force Base was shot and killed Wednesday evening, the military said.

U.S. Air Force spokesman Maj. Richard Johnson said the shooting is being investigated but it doesn't appear to be an act of terrorism.

At about 6 p.m., security was called to the altercation, which wasn't described, at a camping area inside the base, a statement from the military said. One of the people involved sped away on his motorcycle and security tried to stop him, the news release said.

He evaded them and went to the Dale Mabry Gate. Law enforcement engaged him and he was shot, the military said. No one else was injured. The Air Force did not release the dead man's name....

7. Shootings and murders happen on base and in military towns all the time.
If it's a mass murder or politically motivated shooting, it'll be news. If it's just another case of PTSD or rage or jealousy, it's pretty much par for the course. Killeen, Texas is per capita, one of the most violent cities in America. And it's the home of the nation's largest Army base.

11. Probably another Muslim killer like at Fort Hood
They tend to have an affinity for committing murder at US military bases.
