New Flyover Video of BP Oil Spill Released by NOAA, Navy
Source: NOAA Joint Information Center

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is the lead agency on oil spills and uses airplane flyovers to assess oil spill extent.

The Joint Information Center (JIC) issued a press release stating that NOAA's latest observations indicate that a small portion of the oil slick has reached the Loop Current in the form of light to very light sheens.

"Small portion"??? At least they are admitting it now. I want to see a whole horizon/panorama of the ocean, but the oil must not show up clearly unless facing the camera down quite a bit.

2. A cynical person would offer that these flyobvers are meaningless in assessing the size of the spill
Edited on Thu May-20-10 09:34 AM by Vinnie From Indy
I would venture that the development of oil dispersants was primarily driven by the need for oil companies to HIDE the VISIBLE extent of any spills. These dispersants appear to remove the oil from the surface layer of the water. The oil is still there. It is underwater after being sprayed with dispersants. Any flyover pictures released by the oil companies in conjunction with a declaration that the spill is not as great as is being portrayed should not be taken seriously.

6. They keep saying that the oil will degrade once on the surface for a while
so if the oil is will be soo harmless at the surface like the excusemakers say, why are they spraying all these dispersants to keep it under? quite the paradox.

4. talk about a ridiculous narration of how many people are being unable to fix the problem

it is like saying 'I know things are terrible, but we have a lot of people who are getting a paycheck out of agreeing with that assessment, although unable to help'

BP is literally a planet killer, no two ways about it
