Paul Backs Out Of Meet The Press Appearance
Source: TPM

At the end of a rocky week, Rand Paul (R-KY) has canceled a planned interview on NBC's "Meet the Press" citing exhaustion. It's only the third cancellation from a major guest in 62 years, the show's Executive Producer Betsy Fischer said in an interview this afternoon.

"It is a big deal when somebody cancels an appearance," she said.

Fischer and host David Gregory have been attempting to convince Paul's press secretary and campaign manager all day, after hearing the interview they'd first arranged for on Wednesday was scrapped. Fischer said Paul's press secretary said he was exhausted.

"They called a short time ago and said he was very sorry and he needs to cancel," Fischer told me. She tweeted the news this afternoon and will be finding another guest.

Can do a parody of Two Live Crew's "We So Horny" to apply to Rand Paul. Except maybe change the lyrics from:

Me so horny
Me love you long time.

To maybe something more like:

Me so tired
Me fucked up big time.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy in Gregory's case, though. Hmmm...color me bittersweet.

I really doubt it will matter all that much to the Republican voters in Kentucky, but it really highlights his weak character.

While he may well still win this race, the good news is he will not go further in politics. Any long term future he may have had in politics is already dead, buried and decaying in the grave his loose tongue has dug.

31. Paul Cancels Sunday TV Appearance
Source: NY Times

After a series of interviews on national TV that stirred an uproar over his views on civil rights and other issues, Rand Paul, the Republican nominee for Senate in Kentucky, has canceled a scheduled appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press” program on Sunday.

Betsy Fischer, the producer for the news program, said that Mr. Paul’s press secretary, Jesse Benton, had notified them a few hours ago that he would not be appearing on the show. She said Mr. Paul’s campaign had committed to the show on Wednesday, but that his aide said he was tired after a long week.

Efforts to reach a spokesman for Mr. Paul were not immediately successful.

37. Rand Paul Cancels On "Meet The Press," Only 3rd Guest to Do So in 62 Years
Edited on Fri May-21-10 10:55 PM by The Damned
Source: The Huffington Post

Following a week of unsparingly critical press coverage, Kentucky Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul is now seeking to limit his national exposure.

A spokesperson for the Tea Party-endorsed candidate informed NBC News late Friday afternoon that an exhausted Paul was canceling his interview on Sunday's "Meet the Press," Betsy Fischer, the executive producer for the program, told the Huffington Post.

"We booked him on Wednesday. Everything was set and then his press person emailed this afternoon that he was very sorry but he wants to cancel the interview. We tried appealing to the press person to not much avail," Fischer said.

Both Fischer and host David Gregory have since sent direct appeals to Paul's campaign manager to talk to the candidate over the phone with the goal of getting him to reverse his decision. But it appears the Paul camp isn't budging.

66. Just a little weasely cry-baby.
Probably was treated like the Young Prince at home, where he was coddled and flattered and spoonfed the libertarian philosophy all his life in the comfort and safety of his family. He probably assumed it would just continue that way when he stepped outside.

And the "where's my honeymoon" crap? OMG!!! Where's your honeymoon, you selfish, entitled, myopic schmuck? Try looking in your own bellybutton, where your whole worldview is. It's in that well-known rand paul honeymoon resort, in the "heart" (yeah, you betcha!) of Me-Myself-and-I City, the capital of the IGMFU nation. (IGMFU stands for "I Got Mine, FU".)

Libertarians tell you a lot more about themselves than they think they do. And it isn't very likeable. Selfishness seldom is.
