Obama comes to Bay Area to raise money for Boxer, tour Fremont plant
Source: San Jose Mercury News

President Barack Obama began a 19-hour sweep into the Bay Area on Tuesday night to raise money for Democrats and visit a Fremont solar plant that has become a poster child for his administration's stimulus bill.

Obama attended two fundraisers for Sen. Barbara Boxer, who is facing a fierce battle in the fall to win a fourth term. It was his second trip to California in as many months to assist the liberal Democrat.

"We've got a lot on our plate right now, so I don't travel for just anybody," Obama told Democratic donors Tuesday night at San Francisco's Fairmont Hotel. "But when it comes to Barbara Boxer, I'm a lot like you: When she calls and says she needs help, we're gonna give her some help."

Though Boxer sailed to victory in her last election, the state's economic woes have left her facing her strongest challenge since she was elected to the Senate in 1992.

In fact, one of my friends from college (and a local community organizer and fellow member of the Democratic Caucus on campus) was in attendance too! Here's some good news if you're tired of reading about BP's idiocy behind a ruptured oil rig or stories of longtime unemployed people. Who cares about "throwing out the incumbments" when Republicans will be even WORSE? I read the websites of Boxer's primary opponents, Brian Quintana and Mickey Kaus (Kaus = a Blue Dog?) and decided that I'll vote for Boxer most likely on June 8.

2. I just saw Fiorini's latest ad on TV and it was pretty good.
Then I read that Karl Rove has taken a hand in her campaign. This isn't good. I have already sent my ballot in with my vote for Barbara in the primaries, but I think she is going to need a lot of help. Fiorini is now smearing her for 28 years being a bad Senator in Washington and all the wonderful things she's going to do to change things. It has Rove's Machiavellian politics all over it. I wish someone would throw him in jail. He's a criminal and a liar and should be in prison instead of walking around free to do his dirty work. Ugh, I hate Karl Rove.

3. Fiorina outsourced thousands of jobs. I can't see California rewarding
her for that.

4. 500 TP'ers showed up at the Fairmont
They said 1,000 would've shown up, except that the rain kept them away.

An Obama quip on tonight's news: "Now that we've got the car out of the ditch, the Republicans want us to give 'em the keys back."

In other San Francisco news, the Giants beat the Washington Nationals, 4-2

Barbara Boxer's got my vote and my contributions. Barbara Boxer's always got my vote and my contributions.
