Parish official to Obama: Stop moratorium on drilling
Source: CNN

(CNN) - A Gulf Coast official is pleading with President Barack Obama to scrap the moratorium on new oil drilling and exploration as the investigation of the massive oil spill continues, saying the economic impact to her Louisiana parish would be too much to bear.

Charlotte Randolph, president of LaFourche Parish, said she spoke to Obama in person during his visit to the oil-stricken region Friday.

"I expressed to the president that we are dying because of the oil spill, but if he allows this suspension to happen it will kill us," she told reporters Saturday, noting that her parish has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country.

"First I'm hearing from fisherman who are dying because of the oil spill," she said. "Now I'm hearing from the oil and gas industry and all of those associated services that they will be put out of business."

5. Obama should just say fuck it, I'm outta here. People are rightly bitching because of an oil spill,
now some are bitching to drill more oil. No win.

WASHINGTON—During a nationally televised address Tuesday, a visibly tired and worn President Obama informed the country that he was going out for a pack of cigarettes and would be back in 10 minutes or so.

The president would not allow the family dog, Bo, to come along for the "quick trip" to the store down the street.

At press time, it was already getting dark and he had not yet returned.

"My fellow Americans, a year ago I was elected to the office of president of the United States," Obama said. "With that responsibility comes a lot of expectations. A lot of pressure. I inherited a trillion-dollar deficit, two wars, a financial system in crisis, and a failing health care industry. I've been trying to piece it all back together, you know? Trying to be the man everyone elected me to be. The man of this White House. But sometimes—sometimes it's like I'm suffocating."

"Anyway, I'm going to go get some smokes, but I'll…be right back," added Obama, his voice trembling slightly. "Don't wait up."

8. Perhaps they should build solar platforms and wind farms in the Gulf along with a national
smart grid.

Some of their mechanical and engineering expertise should be transferable.

Thanks for the thread, Prosense.

9. After all this they want to go full blast with off-shore oil drilling?
Then they should STFU about the spill and the effects on the fishing industry.

These leaders in the parishes are presidents?

Yeah, well thanks ma'am for thinking about everybody else who will suffer when all that goo hits the shores. In the west coast of Florida there's not a drop of oil to be seen yet but tourists are already fleeing away and locals are losing a lot of money.Millions of people who live near the gulf will suffer. It's already heading toward Texas and Cuba.In a month it won't be pretty. Not that it is right now but it will get worst. So drill, baby, drill ? No thanks.

14. How about oil leases with a 10 Billion security deposit to cover initial damages?
This way we don't have to fight them in courts for decades. They fight us for decades to get the money back if they spill. When the money runs out they have to put up another 10 billion or we seize all their assets.

17. Stop moratorium on drilling
Wonder who is buying her opinion?
Un-freaking- believable, these crack sackers have absolutely no morals.

Drill, baby drill, soon there won't be any living creatures left to use the oil and it's related products.
