BP Thought Spill Could Be 100-Times Larger Than It Told Congress, According To Internal Document
Source: Huffington Post

NEW ORLEANS - Newly released internal documents show BP PLC estimated 4.2 million gallons of oil a day could gush from a damaged well in the Gulf of Mexico if all equipment restricting the flow was removed and company models were wrong.

Democratic Massachusetts Congressman Ed Markey released the documents Sunday showing BP said in a worst-case scenario the leak could gush between 2.3 million and 4.2 million gallons of oil per day.

The current worst-case estimate of what's leaking is 2.5 million gallons a day.

The documents anticipate a scenario where the blowout preventer and other equipment on the sea floor were removed, which was never done.

What is beyond belief; Those who took this inconceivably reckless gamble with the planet we are all a part of, and for what?....greed. Wholesale evil has reached such a point, a war against it is inevitable and unstoppable. BO will never wash the oily stink of this catastrophe from his person, pun intended.

6. no, what's shocking is that the US govt trusted a crooked assed cheating big oil company to provide
honest figures to them!!!!!!!!!

That's the sad and utterly pathetic joke here....

IF this govt cares like they claim, they'd have BP arrested for complicit behavior that resulted in a much more calm reaction to this mega-disaster due to their "it's only a 1000" figure they started with.

Seriously, this is the kind of bullshit that went on under B*sh that made us rally to get the GOP outta power in 06 and 08.

7. I hope Tony liked his boat race ..... lying fucks

1,000 barrels per day or 100,000 barrels per day who can tell the difference? You don't think an oil company w/ scientists and engineers
could figure a way to calculate the size of the spill do you?

Just pump dispersants on top of the oil flow @ the bottom of the sea and nobody will be any wiser.

10. Duplicate LBN post
It clearly says :

The documents anticipate a scenario where the blowout preventer and other equipment on the sea floor were removed, which was never done.

What is about the fact it was never done which isn't quite clear ?

11. This is not about if it was removed ..it's about the damn fucking lies
Edited on Mon Jun-21-10 10:55 AM by flyarm
what isn't quite clear that it wasn't 1000 barrels of oil like BP lied about ????????????

Or 5000 barrels?

or 12000 barrels // and on and on and on..

what is it about disspersants that we had to breathe on the Gulf, that we were lied to about, or they were 100% negligent in warning us about breathing ????????????

You may be changing the subject..this is abput lying and with holding truth from our government..those with the responsibility of protecting Americans and our land and environment.
