|
...I suppose his driver/chef will have to do.
Hey, Ibrahim! Put olive oil on that salad! Not SAE 30wt!!! What might happen if you hire one person to be chef and driver...

5. And yet, amazingly, Osama bin Laden is not even WANTED by the FBI for the 9/11 attacks.. |
|
let alone had a grand jury convened or indictments handed down. Funny, that.

9. he's wanted for attacks on us cole and usa embassies in kenya and tanzania |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-11-10 06:29 PM by pitohui
i for one think those are dirty deeds that should have been punished a long time ago, or do you somehow disagree?
yes, bin laden was "most wanted" by the fbi before 9-11, as clinton TRIED to tell bush and was re-buffed...that doesn't make it wrong to go after accessories before and after the crime.. i don't think anyone of us will ever understand why bush allowed bin laden to go free and wasn't interested in chasing him, but it's water under the bridge now, i trust clinton and we know bin laden was a bad guy who did bad things
if i cook dinner for a man who killed hundreds of people in 1998 and i drive his car and cook his dinner in 2000, i am an accessory to murder, so it's different if it's a man doing it or only women should be prosecuted when they aid and abet criminals?
i'm truly trying to understand the opposition to this prosecution
he helped a KNOWN bad guy do bad things, prison is the right place for him just as it would be for you and me if we helped a KNOWN serial killer live his life in style w. a driver and a chef
sheesh-a-mighty!!!
if you don't want to go to jail for being an accessory to murder, instead of driving a murderer around, find honest work would be my suggestion

11. You apparently missed the point. |
|
I wasn't making any comments in regard the guilt or innocence of the chef/driver. I was pointing out that to this day Bin Laden is not wanted for the 9/11 attacks, and yet as you pointed out, he IS wanted for the embassy bombings and the USS cole attack. The FBI's official position is that Bin Laden is not wanted for 9/11 because they have no evidence with which to connect him to the attacks.
Yes, Bin Laden is a murderer. But he's OUR murderer. We trained him in the 80's to fight the Soviets. the US is responsible for every person Bin Laden has killed.

14. i guess i did miss the point, to me your argument makes no sense |
|
it's ok and not to worry, honey because he only killed those embassy personnel and those guys on the usa cole, so everybody associated with him should walk?
um, how is THAT logic?
the fbi is a criminal, not a civil, organization, they cherry pick the most stone cold winnable prosecutions, for us cole they have a great link to bin laden, so they go after them for that beef, i'm not seeing the problem here
after you're murdered your first couple hundred or so, there's only so many death sentences you could get anyway, prosecute him for the stuff that's easily proved and don't worry about the stuff after he's already figured out how to cover his tracks, fried is fried, right?
it's all moot, since we don't have the guy in hand anyway...
but accessories to his crimes, that we can get our hands on, need to pay, it's the only way to send a message to others who would aid and abet such crimes

23. And Al Capone was wanted for tax evasion |
|
9/11 was planned after Bin Ladin had moved out of an operational role and into a strategy/fundraising role.

Bush had tens of thousands of people killed by invading their country, should we also send all the Whitehouse staff to the Hague when he goes?
Your logic is beyond fail.

13. my logic is the law of my state, actually |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-11-10 06:45 PM by pitohui
if bush had tens of thousands of people killed in louisiana and was then wanted for the murder of those tens of thousands of people, ANYONE who cooked for him, gave him a ride, fucked him, etc. and didn't report to authorities where to pick him up as soon as they could safely get away from his dangerous ass would be accessories after the fact to murder
this guy didn't just pick up bush or cheney or bin laden and give a ride a few miles down the road to get away from the cops, he cooked and drove bin laden for a long, long time knowing perfectly well what he was doing
accessory to murder, in my state, IS murder because it allows the murderer to continue doing what he's doing
and, to me, that seems perfectly right and fair, actually
as long as it's OK to give killers safe haven, killers will be able to move freely and escape
i do not care whether bin laden step by step planned 9-11 or just was free to hand out money to help other people plan 9-11, either way, he is a murderer and those who helped him murder are murderers too

If OBL killed people in Africa and is not wanted for 911 how is his driver guilty by US standards?
So, when bush goes to jail, all of the Whitehouse staff goes too?

come on people i can't be the only person in america who remembers the attacks on the embassies
anyone who drove for/cooked for bin laden after that is an accessory to mass murder, period, end of sentence
14 years is a light sentence in some jurisdictions, he should be glad it was a federal beef
this would be life/capital sentence in louisiana, he helped a mass murderer go about his business of mass murder, just not that hard to figure out it's a crime even if you're a simple sheep herder (which a DRIVER isn't)

21. Then I guess that we should be shipping hundreds of thousands of Americans... |
|
over to prisons in Iraq, Viet Nam, El Salvador etc. This man was not arrested on U.S. soil. America doesn't have a license to kill all over the world and then accuse a driver of anything. We are not the judge, jury and police force of the entire world. To a large portion of the population of the world, Bin Laud in is a lot better than the Americans who have been helping to murder, starve and enslave third world people across the globe for decades. Should we put the drivers for every Senator who voted to invade Iraq, in jail for life?
I lost friends and clients on Sept 11 and I don't think anything we have done since then has done anything to address what happened. Putting people who are doing their jobs and not committing crimes in jail seems useless and cruel.

30. Well..The US and most of the rest of the world issues arrest warrants |
|
and requests custody be transferred from one sovereign state to another. It happens every day.
We are not the judge, jury and police force of the entire world.
No, we do have the authority to issue arrest warrants for any person who attacks the US American people or our interests on matter where they might be, as does every other state on the planet. People are arrested in the US on German warrants and people are arrested in the UK on US warrants, happens all the time.
Putting people who are doing their jobs and not committing crimes in jail seems useless and cruel.
Did you read the article?
"Sudanese-born Ibrahim al-Qosi, 50, had admitted conspiracy and providing support for terrorism.
However, he could serve far less time because of a plea deal which is likely to remain secret for several weeks.
Qosi, who was detained in Afghanistan in 2001, also admitted working as Bin Laden's bodyguard and helping him avoid capture by US forces.
