Iraq hit by spate of attacks
Source: Al Jazeera

A series of deadly attacks have rocked Iraq, as US forces go-ahead with plans to end formal combat operations.

A suicide car bomber targeted the Qahira police station in the north of Baghdad, killing 11 people and wounding at least 34 others on Wednesday, Iraqi police sources told Al Jazeera.

On Haifa street in central Baghdad, 10 people were wounded by an improvised explosive device.

In the north of the country, one person died and another eight were wounded by a bomb attack in Kirkuk.

3. Did it ever really end?
Remember we spent a couple of years arguing over whether the civil war in Iraq was a civil war. Some people seemed to be thrown by having to label it as such or as an occupation or an invasion, not grasping that it could be an invasion/occupation/civil war/all of the above. It was also an ethnic cleansing.

7. No, not at all
Things were going to escalate when we started leaving, no matter when we did it, which was a good argument for leaving a long time ago. It also rendered all of those much-touted and swooned over Iraqi elections nothing more than meaningless exercises in finger painting. Until and unless the Iraqis can hold civilized elections without US military oversight, they really haven't accomplished anything.

6. AQ desn't WANT us to leave! The occupation was the best thing that ever happened to them!
Before the invasion, Iraq was a secular state, with one of the VPs a Christian. The, AQ had very little popular standing. But now?

I offer NO "solution", only point out that this is only a part of the MOASS (Mother Of All Shit Sandwiches) that Bush43 passed on to Obame on Inauguration Day!

9. Haifa street was one of the bloodiest
areas in the early invasion. Looks like it's heating up again.
