Zetas drug gang suspected in massacre of 72 in Mexico
Source: Associated Press / Dallas Morning News

Mexican troops have discovered the bodies of 72 people, believed to be migrants from Central and South America and victims of the Zetas drug gang, on an isolated ranch about 90 miles from the Texas border, authorities said Wednesday.

Officials said the 58 men and 14 women were found Tuesday after a daylong search of a rural swath near the town of San Fernando in Tamaulipas state, where a bloody feud between the Gulf cartel and Zetas has produced an air of lawlessness and widespread fear.

Authorities did not specify a possible motive for the killings. Drug cartels frequently kidnap migrants and threaten to kill them unless they pay fees for crossing their territory.

Information was based largely on the testimony of a migrant from Ecuador who survived the slaughter. Although wounded by a gunshot to the neck, the migrant made his way Monday to a highway checkpoint and summoned marines for help.

1. Dead were All Central American Migrants
The US is not without sin in the immigration mess, but Mexico needs to shut the fuck up about our immigration laws and deportation\walls\guards etc until they pull their shit together.

The tales from CA migrants about their travels through Mexico to get here will curdle your blood. Organized rapes\beatings, payoffs to brutal police\military\criminals and endless tales of woe.

Getting into the US is a cakewalk once you get through Mexico.

2. Unless you wind up in a "violence house" in Phoenix
As Vladek Spiegelman once said, "And here my troubles began..."

3. Again...
...the abuses in that article are perpetrated by Mexican coyotes.

I am so thankful that I live somewhere that, while the US has plenty of warts, is safe and I do not feel the need to pick up my stakes and make life-changing and threatening moves to a hostile place.

4. I second that
The Mexican people deserve the same thing - jobs, stability, and decency. What a shame that so many people prefer to treat them like cattle.

5. I understand what you say about US policy.....
and I agree. However, these people were still trying to come here and appear to have been killed by Los Zetas......a gang founded by elements of the Mexican military and police. They were looking for a better life and were executed (preceded by lord only knows what). I agree......crossing the US border is the easy part. God help them.
