Tea party group can march in parade
Source: Telegraph Herald

"We do believe that the city should have the right or even duty to insist that permit holders not 'discriminate' on the basis of political ideology, especially since the organizers already allowed both political parties to march," Didier said Tuesday, after receiving permission to march.

Jim Waller, who organizes the parade on behalf of the permit holder, the United Labor Participation Committee, said the group wants to keep protesters out of the parade.

"(The tea party) thinks they have the right to get in, but it's our parade," he said last week, before the committee granted permission to the tea party.

The city does not sponsor parades, rather private groups apply for a parade permit, said City Attorney Barry Lindahl. Once the city grants a permit, it has no authority to require organizers to include or exclude a group.

I wonder what the header teabagger there would've said if gays wanted to march in the same parade, or if unions wanted to march in a different parade? Probably all for discrimination then. These people are harping about sensitivity when it comes to the New York Islamic rumpus room, but when it comes to a labor group's parade there's not much sensitivity from teabaggers then.

3. What a bunch of uninformed clods.
As pointed out in the article, once the city grants a parade permit, the parade organizers can do as they like (legally) and the city's responsibility ends there. No, the tea party does not have a "right" to march in a parade, but the organizers have the right to include/exclude whomever they want after permit approval. The tea party's assertion that the city must enforce some sort of non-discrimination policy upon the parade organizers is laughable. This suggests the parade organizers are somehow involved in local government, which they never are. Parade organizations are a private affair, even if the organizers happen to be public servants.

Jesus H. Christ the tea baggers are an uninformed lot.

6. They should be happy..
now just make sure there are plenty of blacks,gays,hispanics,muslims,etc..

Now,as for the Glenn beck event at the Lincoln monument, there should be groups of blacks and every other group to greet them at all of the red and blue stops,to welcome them...

9. Document, document, document
If it's not on Youtube, it's not real. When they show up and start misbehaving, folks need to get it on camera.
