Bill McCollum refuses to back Rick Scott, cites qualms

Citing concerns about honesty, Bill McCollum refuses to support Rick Scott, who won the GOP nomination for governor.

BY JOHN FRANK
Herald/Times Tallahassee Bureau

TALLAHASSEE -- Bill McCollum doesn't forget easily.

Two days after he lost the Republican nomination for governor, McCollum still refuses to support winner Rick Scott, and continues to raise questions about his former rival's character.

In his first public appearance since conceding the race, McCollum said Thursday that he called Scott to ``congratulate him and wish him well.'' But he didn't bury the hatchet in one of the nastiest primary's in state history.

``I still have serious questions about issues of his character, his integrity, his honestly -- things that go back to Columbia/HCA,'' McCollum said, referring to Scott's former hospital chain, which paid a $1.7 billion fine after a federal criminal investigation. ``As other voters will do, I will judge him throughout this campaign.''

The attorney general's remarks put a serious dent in the message of party unity and reopened a vulnerability Democratic candidate Alex Sink is likely to exploit in the general election.

1. Pfft. McCollum is holding out for something he wants
but once he and Scott come to terms, McCollum will endorse him. Dirty birds of a feather flock together, you betcha! *wink*

10. McCollum is a loser
who sooner or later will endorse the winner of his party's primary, pissed off or not. It's that or watch Alex Sink walk away with the prize.

2. What I found soooo funny (and telling) about this primary...
both parties had an experienced politician and both parties had a controversial, dirty candidate trying to buy their election. The dirty Dem got smacked down. The dirty Republican? Heartily embraced and successfully paid their way in.

4. this will be a very interesting election cycle
How anyone can take the pukes seriously after this primary requires some intense head up your rectal passage justification.

btw, I never heard that "creating 500,000 jobs" video.

7. well that was interesting.
not a word as to what those jobs were going to be. But, he would put our ports at risk because it costs too much for the imports to come in.

Gaud, this is a sad state of affairs we find ourselves in. There is not a politician sitting in any govt agency that is speaking the truth anymore.

thanks very much for the link. You should check out Ferres' website, and maybe read his economic paper. He's at least has some kind of plan that has

been posted.

Peace.

6. As long as everyone keeps pressure on the FraudCrook and his supporters.
"Two days after he lost the Republican nomination for governor, McCollum still refuses to support winner Rick Scott, and continues to raise questions about his former rival's character."

I THINK that should have read:

Two days after he lost the Republican nomination for governor, McCollum still refuses to support FRAUD AND CROOK Rick Scott, and continues to raise questions about his former rival's character.

There! That's better!

Now...HELLO Florida? Wake the f**k up!
