UN hopes science review eases climate scepticism

A review due on Monday can help restore public faith in the United Nations panel of climate scientists and its finding that global warming is man made despite errors in a 2007 report, the UN's environment chief said.

Achim Steiner also said extreme weather in 2010, such as floods in Pakistan or Russia's heatwave, were a "stark warning" of the need to act to slow global warming, as outlined by the UN panel.

He said he would be surprised if the review, spurred by mistakes in a 2007 report such as an exaggeration of the thaw of Himalayan glaciers, called for any radical overhaul of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

The InterAcademy Council, comprising science academies around the world, is due to hand its review and recommendations for the future of the IPCC to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in New York.

1. Well unfortunately the UN doesn't understand that the Palin folks believe
that they can pray climate change back into its bottle if they are really really really insistent with their daily prayer.

You see they have a really really really good personal relationship with the main climate maker and he just wouldn't let them suffer needlessly.

You see their god wants them all to be wealthy and its hard for them to be wealthy if they keep having massive drought and crop failures, so if you want those Himalayan glaciers to come back we just have to pray a little harder and the problem will be solved.

5. They don't give a flying fuck about science.
The well funded opposition is composed of professional liars paid to propagate doubt, huge numbers of idiots, and opportunists using the efforts of the rightwing thinktanks to advance their political agendas and careers. As doing something is 'difficult', while obstruction is easy, the democracies will do nothing much as we plunge into the abyss.

6. Climate sceptics are not arguing in good faith.
There is no amount of data, analysis or peer review that will cause them to suddenly change their minds.

8. It's never been about the truth to those morons.
To them it's about being right in the face of overwhelming evidence.

stubborn pride will be their ultimate downfall.
