Iowa approved egg farm tied to ‘habitual violator’
Source: Reuters / Las Vegas Sun

The owner of an egg farm at the center of a massive salmonella recall was able to expand his egg empire despite being branded a "habitual violator" of Iowa's environmental laws _ a label that was supposed to ban him from building any more farms.

Documents reviewed by The Associated Press suggest Austin "Jack" DeCoster, one of the nation's largest egg producers, got around the ban that lasted more than four years by having associates seek approval for the projects, only to assume control of the enterprise later.

3. You ain't seen nothing yet. Wait until the full effects of the Citzens United case kick in.
Even before the Citizens United ruling in the SCOTUS, corporations used their money to affect government appointments in regulatory agencies. These corporate-friendly appointees defanged the agencies to where there is little if any oversight of the companies they are supposed to regulate.

4. ah, just like BP---more evidence of BushCo anti-regulation & anti-enforcement policies
:grr:

Why have laws and regs if our gov. won't enforce any of them?

Meanwhile, the IRS just charged me 38 cents for a late payment---my tax payment was postmarked 4/15 but somehow that was "late."
