Feds sue Arizona sheriff in civil rights probe
Source: AP

PHOENIX – The U.S. Justice Department sued Sheriff Joe Arpaio on Thursday, saying the Arizona lawman refused for more than a year to turn over records in an investigation into allegations his department discriminates against Hispanics.

The lawsuit calls Arpaio and his office's defiance "unprecedented," and said the federal government has been trying since March 2009 to get officials to comply with its probe of alleged discrimination, unconstitutional searches and seizures, and having English-only policies in his jails that discriminate against people with limited English skills.

"Unprecedented" indeed. This guy thinks he's above the law! He thinks he IS the law.

through the mud.

He and his family fled to Egypt as refugees, to escape Herod. Same story, basically. Though the tide's now turning in many parts, the US has pillaged S. America and ruled it with an iron fist for so long.

4. He is above the law!
As far as the majority of voters in Maricopa County are concerned.

They love him because he does in the open what they only wish for in the blackness of their souls, and they like using the voting booth to cover their own hate filled beliefs.

If the Feds lose this one, Arpaio will become the Teflon Sheriff. I hope they have their shit together on this one.

8. Why wouldn't Arpaio refuse to provide records?
The Republicans have shown time and again that there's no penalty for defying the law. Hell, Bush administration officials didn't even have to show up to take the Fifth for congressional subpoenas; they just said Congress couldn't subpoena them, and off they skated. No contempt citation, no marshall dispatched to compel their apperance, just, "Oh, you don't want to appear? Okay!"

Why wouldn't Arpaio expect the same response from the Justice Department. "I don't wanna turn over records!" "Oh, okay, Sheriff Joe. Sorry we bothered you. Never mind."
