Source: azcentral.com

A Mesa woman suffered second-degree burns after another woman threw liquid acid on her face in the parking lot of her apartment complex Thursday afternoon, police said.

The victim arrived home at an apartment complex in the 1300 block South Val Vista Drive at around 1 p.m. when another woman approached her in the parking lot and threw the acid on her, police said. The woman then ran north through the complex. Police were unable to find the suspect after a search of the area.

Copycat crime? Maybe not. Police say evidence shows that it may not be random. Whatever it was, this acid throwing stuff is a big bummer.

Can someone tell me if this is the same stuff that is readily available at hardware stores?

It's probably hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid. Pretty nasty stuff. I hope they catch that evil woman.

8. The cops said this one wasn't random
meaning the woman knew her attacker.

It was likely a copycat of the PNW attacks, though.

10. I wonder if these acid attacks
Are really alkaline attacks and what is thrown is a heavy duty caustic cleaning fluid. This stuff is just as deadly as acid and does as much damage, however immediate dousing with vinegar or lemon juice and lengthy rinsing with clean water can alleviate some of the damage.

I suppose it makes no difference to the victim; either substance is a dreadful thing to have thrown at you. What in hell is going throught the attacker's mind?
