Ariz. governor says she was wrong about beheadings
Source: AP

PHOENIX – Gov. Jan Brewer rose to national fame defending the state's immigration law and warning of rising violence along the U.S.-Mexico border, including a claim that headless bodies were turning up in the Arizona desert.

But the claim has come back to haunt her after her stammering debate performance in which she failed to back it up and ignored repeated questions on the issue from a scrum of reporters.

Brewer has spent the time since backtracking and trying to repair the damage done from her cringe-worthy debate against underdog challenger Terry Goddard.

1. Imagine someone as pathetic as Jan Brewer trying to run
against someone as impressive as Terry Goddard in say, Vermont.

Come on, you Arizona Republicans. Brewer's a miserable excuse for a public sevant.

2. Arizonans love the stupid, though....
That's what happens when you have a state that is essentially a tax haven for older white people.

Education suffers along with virtually every other public service.

I expect Brewer will win by a landslide, no matter how stupid her statements are.

3. Hi, Alexander. Yep. She's going for exactly that
demographic -- the heavy-duty anti-immigrant crowd.

I think your prediction is right, although Goddard would be an infinitely superior governor.

10. just watched the debate tonight on you tube-- no contest
Brewer was totally outclassed and crushed by Goddard in the debate. She was not only spacey, insecure, and simple minded, but illogical, evasive, and totally out of here league. Goddard was factual, forceful, confident, and gave her the rope to hang herself with. I don't see how anyone would want a creep like Brewer to be their governor. With all the fear-mongering/beheading comments etc.. she has no-0NE to blame but herself for Arizona going down the tubes and all she can come up with is blame unions for boycotting the state! I'm sure that appeals to her simpleminded xenophobic anti-union supporters. So predictable. The Repukes seem to be having their own race to the bottom.

Unfortunately, you're right. Barring some last-minute debacle, she'll win easily.

the republicans didn't want her either...

Now she's the darling of the tea-baggers... She demonstrates the same level of "critical thinking" that they do.

6. K&R
"That was an error, if I said that," the Republican told The Associated Press on Friday. "I misspoke, but you know, let me be clear, I am concerned about the border region because it continues to be reported in Mexico that there's a lot of violence going on and we don't want that going into Arizona."

- Unh-huh. If you said that. You misspoke. But now you're being clear. Right.

7. It is a game. They lie big and it hits news as a truth. They retract and it
gets NO news. It is a game and until the media realizes that it is "they" who are responsible in part for this Country being so fucked up, it will not change.

She must have TV and real life mixed up.
Something that Republicans tend to do a lot since they watch Fox news.

20. Why aren't people talking about AZ tourism?

She is killing many businesses in the tourist industry. Reporters should be hammering her on that.
There should be news stories everyday about what she did to these people with her fear-mongering.
