Hostage situation at Fort Stewart ends without casualties

By the CNN Wire Staff
September 6, 2010 10:05 a.m. EDT

(CNN) -- A hostage situation that lasted about two hours at Fort Stewart, Georgia, ended Monday without injuries, and a gunman is in custody, a spokesman for the Army base said.

The gunman -- a former soldier -- entered the Winn Army Community Hospital at about 4 a.m. ET and demanded care, spokesman Kevin Larson said.

He immediately took one hostage and went to the third floor, which houses the behavioral health unit, where he held two more people at gunpoint, including a nurse practitioner, Larson said.

The nurse, an Army major, was able to calm the man, and authorities started negotiations, Larson said. The gunman, who was carrying four weapons, eventually surrendered and was taken into custody for questioning, he said.

How desperate was this veteran that got him to go to an Army hospital and take hostages in order to get care?

4. So, now we'll just lock him up in prison someplace.
The guy was obviously desperate enough to take such drastic measures....and he'll pay for his desperation....and probably get no care for the cause of it all.

"support the troops"....until they aren't taking bullets and bombs alongside their vehicles...then, f*ck 'em.

7. You just laid out the GOP plan for the military!
Just like HCR, Financial reform, the stimulus, etc...The GOP has hijacked via Murdoch's Media Empire & Talk Radio patriotism & the lie that they support the military! The majority of Americans think the GOP is better for the military despite decades of proof they are not!

This country is under siege & I honestly have no idea how you get the American Public to STOP & THINK about our problems & how we should go about fixing them when the GOP has access to such a powerful media empire????
