Boehner: Obama infrastructure plan more failed stimulus funding
Source: The Hill

House Republican leader John Boehner of Ohio Monday criticized President Barack Obama’s proposal to boost infrastructure investment as more stimulus spending doomed to fail.

“As the American people, facing near double-digit unemployment, mark Labor Day by asking, where are the jobs, the White House has chosen to double-down on more of the same failed ‘stimulus’ spending,” Boehner said in a prepared statement.

Republicans have targeted an unemployment rate that continues to hover above 9 percent despite last year’s economic stimulus plan. “If we’ve learned anything from the past 18 months, it’s that we can’t spend our way to prosperity,” Boehner said. “We don’t need more government ‘stimulus’ spending – we need to end Washington Democrats’ out-of-control spending spree, stop their tax hikes, and create jobs by eliminating the job-killing uncertainty that is hampering our small businesses.”

Both political parties have continued to spout well-oiled talking points heading into November’s midterm election that many predict will see Republicans gaining seats in both the House and Senate and at least narrowing the Democratic congressional majority. The White House and Democratic leaders have said stimulus funding has helped what could have been a far worse loss of jobs and economic stability.

5. Ain't it interestin'
That when ever Repugnicans talk about business they say 'small business' when we all know what they really mean is 'big corporations that feed us money so we can feed your tax money back to them'.

9. Boehner is an idiot and the Republican response to this plan
is completely predictable -

Which is why I don't understand the size of it - $50 billion is peanuts - really go all in - announce a new WPA - spend some real money on fixing this country's infrastructure

If we can spend 3 trillion blowing up Iraq/Afghanistan, surely we can spend some real money on our own country - and surely a great communicator like Barrack Obama can explain to the American people why this must be done.

Sheesh. Congressional Republicans have managed to evade defense spending while complaining about wasteful spending.

13. The problem with Obama's proposal is it's too little too late.
Even if the bill were passed tomorrow, it would take months before it would have any effect on the economy and employment and that would be way past the election. He should have been proposing this over a year ago.

14. I'm not seeing how the Repub plan of stomping their feet and pouting is going to help...
Come on Bonehead, if you have have a plan that will work, we are all ears... Didn't think so, people have learned that "Supply side" and "Trickle down" means getting shafted by the rich and big business. What's going to be the next euphemism for diddling the middle class?
