Facebook passes Google in surfers' time
Source: Associated Press

SEATTLE (AP) — U.S. Web surfers are spending more time socializing on Facebook than searching with Google, according to new data from researchers at comScore Inc.

In August, people spent a total of 41.1 million minutes on Facebook, comScore said, about 9.9 percent of their Web-surfing minutes for the month. That just barely surpassed the 39.8 million minutes, or 9.6 percent, people spent on all of Google Inc.'s sites combined, including YouTube, the free Gmail e-mail program, Google news and other content sites.

2. the numbers are likely skewed on this because many people just leave their Facebook page open

when they aren't even using it.

and since Facebook auto-refreshes, it could claim a lot more active minutes than Google,
since Google doesn't auto-refresh. Your only active minutes on Google are when you are actually using it.

6. I did also because
It takes up too much time. Plus the fact, of that bug they had a few months back where everyones personal information was there for everyone to see. If I wanted to give out my email address to the world, thats the place to do it.

I hate it when I wake up in the morning and Barack Obama is President.

8. I enjoy Facebook but sometimes it's all a bit too much
The drama, the sappiness, the apps (except FarmVille of course-- LOL). I do love being back in touch with some people that I haven't seen in ages but some people were in my past for a reason.

9. Facebook = a glorified Free Republic
I quit Facebook because I was sick of rich reich-wingers there whining. All they do is whine.

Also, Facebook refuses to delete a site that tries to solicit Obama's assassination.

Facebook is the Free Republic of the new decade.

10. As it should be.
If a search site is done correctly, you do not need to spend much time there to find what you want.
