Student denied bail after claiming Muslim cab driver he allegedly stabbed was't severely injured

A city film student accused of trying to kill a Muslim cab driver was temporarily denied bail Monday - after claiming the hack's injuries were minor.

"The injuries suffered here were not serious injuries," Michael Enright's defense lawyer Lawrence Fisher told a Manhattan judge. The cabbie was "treated and released with stitches and has made a full recovery."

Fisher also insisted his 21-year-old client - a former Cub Scout and little leaguer from Brewster - should be released because he suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and severe alcoholism.

"Michael suffers from PTSD caused by the atrocities he saw while at war," Fisher said of Enright's experience as a young embedded freelance reporter covering the war in Afghanistan this spring.

1. Erm...he may certainly have seen atrocities while he was observing other people who were "at war",
but that doesn't mean that he was "at war".

2. I'd like to know under whose authority was he embedded with our troops to make a movie about his
friend at war. Who let him in? What security clearance was
he given? None of our finest journalists are allowed so why
him?

3. If he's suffering from PTSD
so badly that he would attack someone that way then he needs to stay in that psychiatric lock-up ... the forensic psychologists at places like that are trained to handle violent criminals in ways that people at another facility are not.
