Top Obama Aide: 'Any Aspect' Of Health Care 'Could Be De-Funded' By GOP
Source: Huffington Post

The potential for a showdown over health care funding remains firmly in the realm of the hypothetical. Top aides continue to operate off the conviction that Democrats will retain control of at least one House of Congress, providing them some relief in ensuring that the money don't run dry. But they've also begun discussing the possibility of de-funding -- which could, in turn, compel larger political crises and even, possibly, a government shut down -- with a bit more gravity.

In a conference call with new media reporters and bloggers, Nancy-Ann DeParle, the president's top health care adviser and the White House official most intimately familiar with the bill, acknowledged that there were a myriad of ways to choke off the legislation's revenue streams.

"Through the appropriations process, what can do and something they've done in the past with reforms, they would de-fund them in the appropriations bill... Any aspect of this could be de-funded. There is funding in here for insurance authorities to do a better job of rate review. They can take that away. So there are things they can do."

"We should all know," she added, "that those who seek to de-fund and repeal this law will take us back to the days when insurance companies were in control of our care instead of consumers and doctors."

1. the days when insurance companies were in control of our care
she added, "that those who seek to de-fund and repeal this law will take us back to the days when insurance companies were in control of our care instead of consumers and doctors."

When did we transition away from health insurance companies? Did I miss that?

6. Dem's need to stay on the side of truth. They start lying about stuff
like this like the GOP and they will lose me.

Insurance companies are still in control/never lost it.

4. If we lose the House, most of the President's programs will lose funding.
And he won't be able to pass another progressive act for the rest of his term.

7. "will take us back to the days when insurance companies were in control of our care instead of ..."
"consumers and doctors."

Fsck it, we're PEOPLE, HUMAN BEINGS, not CONSUMERS!

And those days are here now, due to Obama and congress enslaving us to the parasitic insurance companies.

Each day, 273 people die due to lack of health care in the U.S.; that's 100,000 deaths per year.

We need single-payer health care, not a welfare bailout for the serial-killer insurance agencies.

We don't need the GingrichCare of mandated, unregulated, for-profit insurance that is still too expensive, only pays parts of medical bills, denies claims, and bankrupts people. Republinazi '93 plan:
"Subtitle F: Universal Coverage - Requires each citizen or lawful permanent resident to be covered under a qualified health plan or equivalent health care program by January 1, 2005."

"We will never have real reform until people's health stops being treated as a financial opportunity for corporations."
