Mike Castle Feeling Out a Write-In Run
Source: The Atlantic (From Politico)

Lisa Murkowski may have started a trend. One week after she announced her write-in bid and Delaware Rep. Mike Castle lost his GOP Senate primary to Christine O'Donnell, Castle is considering launching his own write-in campaign. Politico's David Catanese cites a "Delaware Republican" who tells him that Castle is conducting a poll to see how he would fare as a write-in against O'Donnell and Democratic nominee Chris Coons:

1. I was down

at the Riverfront yesterday where Castle had a very large campaign headquarters for Wilmington. (Many of the stores are vacant so he had 10-15 storefronts filled with signs before the primary) Yesterday all the windows were empty and in one window I could see a wastepaper basket with a stack of bumper stickers relegated to the garbage. (His signage just said Mike Castle for Senate 2010 with no mention of party affiliation so could be reused as a write-in candidate)

If he is considering a write-in campaign he forgot to tell his staff. I seriously doubt he will run.

2. Coons Is Polling Really Well Right Now
And while a lot of people think he and O'Donnell would split the vote ensuring a Coons win, I worry that Castle would get the sympathy vote.

3. I mentioned it the other day
But the response I got is that it would pull votes away from Dems challenger Coons.
