Chavez likely to retain parliament in Venezuela vote
Source: Reuters

Venezuelans voted for a new parliament on Sunday with President Hugo Chavez expected to keep control of the National Assembly in a poll that tests his support ahead of the next presidential election in 2012... Opposition parties in South America's biggest oil producer are guaranteed to make big gains after they boycotted the last legislative election five years ago... The focus is on whether they can take more than a third of the 165 seats up for grabs, which would mean the socialist president would need support from his foes for major changes to laws or to make appointments to important institutions...In addition to the president's polarizing personality, the peaceful campaign has focused on Venezuela's shocking crime statistics and its dire economic situation. Sky-high inflation has worsened a second year of recession.

2. His support is much relied on the economic condition of his people...
Our politicians would do well to learn this lesson.

4. Chavez likely to retain parliament in Venezuela vote
Source: Reuters

(Reuters) - Venezuelans voted for a new parliament on Sunday, with President Hugo Chavez expected to keep control of the National Assembly in a poll that tests his support ahead of the next presidential election in 2012.

Wearing a tracksuit top in the red, yellow and blue of the Venezuelan flag, Chavez arrived to vote at a school in a Caracas slum in a modest red sedan that he drove himself.

"Those who are against, those who are in favor, let us all vote," he told reporters, adding that he was happy the opposition had agreed to take part.

5. "Blackouts, inflation and crime! Oh my!" "Blackouts, inflation and crime! Oh, my!"
"Blackouts, inflation and crime! Oh, my!" -- didn't work, eh, Rotters? Well, you gave it the old college (ahem, Wall Street Urinal) try.

From the collapsing, mismanaged, incompetent, crime-ridden, communist, inflationary dictatorship of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, friend-of-Fidel-Castro, sends you a salute on the eve of another electoral success, in Venezuela's transparent, honest, aboveboard, internationally monitored and certified election system. If this doesn't make sense to you, from what you've been reading in the "Alice in Wonderland" press, take heart; you are not alone; the entire world will be waking up tomorrow wondering what could possibly cause Venezuelan voters to favor the Chavez government again and again and again and again. Cuz if they only read Rotters, the Associated Pukes, the New York Slimes and brethren, they wouldn't have a clue. (Oh, except that he's "buying" the votes of the poor majority by doing something for the poor majority, the bastard.)

But it's all going to hell in a handbasket soon, soon. Tomorrow, in fact. These rightwingers, who decided to participate in the election this time, will be getting all the headlines and "talking point" space tomorrow and for the next two years, we can be sure, with their hell in one hand and their handbaskets in the other. Though the Chavistas won, again.

Did I say...?

:puke:

They are the same all over. Tea-stained teeth. Hell. Handbaskets. Big trumpet (the corpo-fascist press). Makes you wanna...

:puke:

Well, at least they actually COUNT THE VOTES in Venezuela. Can't same the same for us.

:puke: , :puke: and more :puke: !

8. 70% of Venezuelans Exercise Voting Right
70% of Venezuelans Exercise Voting Right
Reported: 03:45 AM - Sep/27/10

Long lineups were recorded Sunday at voting polls in Venezuela, where parliamentary elections are being held, causing the closing time to be postponed in order to accommodate all voters. President Hugo Chavez estimated that approximately 70 per cent of eligible voters exercised their right to vote in the elections.

It is possible that the opposition will win several seats in parliament and thus will be able to limit some actions taken by Chavez.
