Tea Party flexes muscles in Marin County today
Source: SF Chronicle

Hundreds of Tea Party supporters will gather in Marin County today, where they will listen to speeches from affirmative action opponent Ward Connerly and John Yoo, the UC Berkeley law professor and an architect of the Bush administration's "enhanced interrogation" policy.

...

After spending a week organizing recently in California, Steinhauser is urging Northern California Tea Party groups to help Harmer try to unseat Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton, rather than fight long-odds battles against entrenched incumbents such House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco.

...

But those who identify with the Tea Party are increasing in California. A Field Poll on the U.S. Senate race released last week found that 41 percent of likely voters identify at least somewhat with the Tea Party. That's up from 36 percent three months ago.

Like the sign says, Wake UP! Marin County is BLUE. And the Teabaggers are having a rally there.

Ignore them at our peril.

3. Last time I was in Mill Valley to visit relatives,
Edited on Sun Sep-26-10 04:39 PM by Cleita
my husband got warned about smoking his pipe in a restaurant and this was years before the ban on smoking happened in all of California. Marin County seems to have always been ahead of the rest of the state. We also decided it was much too expensive for our budget. Hopefully, those gun holstered tea baggers won't feel at home there and can't afford to be there.

14. Yea, we taxpayers should protest them using a taxpayer funded
facility for their anti-tax anti-intellectual anti-everything protest... and so close to public school buildings, too!
What a riot!

12. more important question, where are they busing them in from?
a lot of these rallies have folks bussed in from areas OTHER than where the rally is .......some of these rallies have had folks from other states shipped in to make things look good for them.

8. Ahhh...so old Ward Connerly climbs out from under a rock...
We wondered in our house, what had happened to this creep.

Low and behold...he returns from the slime. This guy is scum.

I would counter this rally of "hundreds" with this,

"Washington DC Hotels Reports Colbert and Stewart DC Rallies Outpacing Beck"

9. Unhappy republicans
That's all the tea party really is! They are embarrassed to admit they are republicans so they now identify with the tea baggers because they think the tea baggers will push an very, very right wing radical agenda on congress! They think they can get more from the tea baggers than the main stream republican candidates, and they think the tea baggers will push the rest of the republican party to the far, far right, the NUT wing of the party! Many of them were part of the old religious right wing that always voted for republicans, but never saw the promises they were made come to be. Others are racists who want to see everyone but the whites sent back to their own countries! They also have some nazis, some KKK, a bunch of gun nuts who think they have to carry in order to be "real" men, or women, and then they have the plain down and out crazy side of the party, the nuts who let Glen Beck speak for them, and do is bidding!

It all comes down to the fact they always have voted republican and they always will. A lot of them have registered as "INDEPENDENTS" which is a joke. I think part of the right wing's plan was to paint these morons as "INDEPENDENT" grass roots groups, but in reality they are funded by the same bunch of republicans that want to control the country are using these gullible people to do the dirty work of calling our president names, and even resorting to violence if things don't go their way!

11. Pffft. We get much more than this for almost every progressive
cause in Marin County. I think they are here to provoke a confrontation. I know there are counter rallies.

15. I could be wrong but I think the tea party will go out about a fast as they came
Some of them will probably be elected and they will either piss people off because they're not doing what they promised, or they piss people off by showing what they promised doesn't work. The only thing they have going for them is getting people to focus on hating liberals and anyone not like them. That won't work forever. There has to be results in there somewhere.
