Senate bill to tax firms that export jobs fails

By STEPHEN OHLEMACHER (AP) – 2 hours ago

WASHINGTON — Tax legislation that would have punished U.S. firms that export jobs has failed in the Senate.

The bill failed to reach the 60 votes required to advance. Democrats held the vote nonetheless to display their commitment to economic recovery just five weeks before the Nov. 2 midterm elections. Republicans called the vote a political ploy.

The bill would have levied tax increases on U.S. companies that close domestic plants and open new ones overseas. The legislation would have also given companies that import jobs to the U.S. new tax breaks.

All 435 House seats, 37 in the Senate and the Democratic majority in both houses are on the line Nov. 2.

The bill failed, 53-45, to attract the 60 votes required to advance. Four Democrats and one Independent joined Republicans to block its progress.

1. Well well well, another victory for the cheap labor repukes
This week on a very special episode of "Outsourced," a dozen new jobs are added overseas while 12 more are taken away from Americans.

2. Usual suspects....
"The Democrats voting to block the bill were Sens. Max Baucus of Montana, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Jon Tester of Montana and Mark Warner of Virginia. Also voting no was Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn."

3. So of course Democrats joined into this with their Republicant friends.
And this vote against working families will be ignored by the media.

5. Let's see if the Democrats can make an issue out of this
Because right now, I'm thinking they couldn't pour piss out of a cowboy boot if you told them the directions were printed on the heel.

14. I've completely lost my sense of humor
And yet I'm not insane. I just live in America.

I've lost two jobs in the last 2 and a half years to off shoring. NBC is running a "comedy" about off shoring. How can any sane person find anything remotely humorous in that. It's a new low in corporate viciousness.

And because I don't find it funny, it means their brainwashing isn't working. I thought one needed to maintain a sense of humor to withstand brainwashing.

Sorry to ramble. I just feel so battered by these fascist thugs I don't even know how to put words to that constant churning in my gut these days.

10. "GOP blocks Democrats' jobs outsourcing bill"? Nope.
More like the democrats block the democrats' job outsourcing bill.

Which party currently controls congress with a 60 vote majority? I'll give you a hint, it isn't the republicans...

Q3JR4.
Just saying, get it right.
