Obama lights a fire under UW-Madison supporters at rally
Source: Wisconsin State Journal

President Obama served as the closing act Tuesday for a rock-n-roll, fire-up-the-troops extravaganza on the UW-Madison campus — a giant rally meant to recapture the fire of the campaign trail and bridge the so-called "enthusiasm gap" among younger voters.

Recent polls have shown that while Democrats remain as popular — or as unpopular — as Republicans nationwide, the GOP has nearly a 2-to-1 lead in the number of likely voters. That math could equal record losses at the polls Nov. 2 if the tide is not turned in the next five weeks.

Obama took the stage at Library Mall to a raucous crowd, following a performance by musician Ben Harper and a series of speeches by the state's major Democratic candidates.

<...>

"The biggest mistake we can make right now is to let disappointment lead to apathy," Obama said. "I am promising you Wisconsin, change is going to come. You got to stick with me. You can't lose hope."

1. I don't 'got to' do anything
Give me reasons to "stick" with you. And not just "we're not the other guys."

3. OK, then. I'll forward that to the White House. They'll be in touch
with you shortly, I'm quite certain...

No, you don't have to do anything. What were you thinking of doing?

4. I am sorry
This President has done a amazing job. We prevented a depression. WE are no starting to move on the right track. When people say where is the change this type of change takes a life time. I am sorry that you thought it would be immediate.

6. Lots of people are saying this - 'give me a reason'. Well, no one has
Edited on Tue Sep-28-10 08:47 PM by geckosfeet
your reason except you. If you can't find it then maybe you really don't have one. That's for you to learn.

I, and others can tell you why we support President Obama and the dems. But those are not YOUR reasons. None of them will be good enough for you or for anyone who needs to be told why.

Maybe the best reason for you is 'we're not the other guys'. Maybe that's it. So what. It's true. The other guys are back stabbing thieving bastards. That alone is reason enough for me.

So, I hope you and all the others looking for reasons figure out what they are looking for and vote this fall. I would hate to see 'the other guys' take over.

8. I'm sorry, but his article and title is plain stupid
I just saw the event streaming on different webcasts, and the audience seem enthusiastic and excited before President Obama's speech, (this article uses raucous to describe the crowd, that would better describe the teafugger's rallies).

The enthusiasm between Obama and the crowd was reciprocative, the excited crowds seemed to light a fire in President Obama, that rarely been seen since 2008. His speech was great and inspiring (you could feel the positive vibe just watching the event on livestreams; I imagine it was much better live.

President Obama was simply encouraging endurance in young voter's enthusiasm.

This article is just rubber stamping the M$M meme that young voters are turned off.

11. Help me with this problem...
I will vote the spineless democrat ticket, but shit oh dear,
this is not good. I did not expect great change in 2 years,
but I did expect some reasonable communication about following
up on promises made..I did not and do not appreciate the
capitulation to republicant's, teabaggers and Fux news.. don't
give me the sad story that that is what it takes to get things
done in Washington..Bullshit, Mr. President and fellow
democrats...you had a mandate and you pissed it away..you are
simple and weak, but you are not by in large war mongers, but
you are supporters of campaign finance, massive spending, and
so goddamned self centered I want to puke. My only reason to
vote for any of you is Nancy Pelosi has giant balls and I hope
you can learn from her.
P.S. If you piss away the tax cut expiration, all bets are
off,,,,
