'Explosive allegations' to be leveled against Whitman
Source: CNN

(CNN) – Beware the nanny.

California GOP gubernatorial nominee Meg Whitman is facing a new hurdle Wednesday as her housekeeper of nine years prepares to make what are being called "explosive allegations" about the former eBay CEO.

The housekeeper has hired famed attorney Gloria Allred, and will hold a news conference at 2 p.m. ET to "tell how she suffered as a long time Latina household employee in Meg Whitman's home and why she is filing a claim against Ms. Whitman," according to a statement released by Allred's office.

Whitman has previously beat back allegations she was involved in a 2007 shoving altercation with an employee at eBay's California headquarters after the Silicon Valley chief felt unprepared for an upcoming media interview. The incident reportedly led to a $200,000 settlement.

Responding to the impending press conference, Whitman spokeswoman Andrea Jones Rivera said Allred is merely attempting to smear the California Republican.

“With the polls tied, it comes as no surprise that the morning after a successful debate for Meg that the sleaze machine of the political left is now focused on the politics of personal destruction. Gloria Allred is a shameful manipulator and the timing of today’s news conference so close to the election should serve as a warning to Californians that they are witnessing dirty political smears at their worst," she said in a statement.

3. Housekeepers and sitters
A babysitter for the family of Marvin Bush was found dead Monday night outside the family's Fairfax County home, and police said that she had been crushed when her car rolled into her, pinning her between the vehicle and an outbuilding on the property.

Fairfax County police said Bertha Champagne, 62, had worked for several years for Marvin Bush, President Bush's brother, and lived at the family home on Fort Hunt Road in the Alexandria section of Fairfax.

Officer Courtney Young, a police spokeswoman, said Champagne had gone outside the house about 9 p.m. Monday, reportedly to retrieve something from her car.

The vehicle had been in gear, police said, and appeared to have rolled in her direction when Champagne was in front of it.

are all delusional. I didn't hear the debate, but from what I've read, Whitman failed miserably during the debate.

Are you referring to the housekeeper's allegations or the response of Meg's media arm when you refer to the firecracker? I know, I must be obtuse.

7. I Don't Trust Allred......
what if this is a false flag operation. What if Allred is a double agent and this is all designed to help Whitman. You know make her a martyr or victim of a scam hit on her. Allred is all for money - and Meg does have money.

Whoa!!! my tinfoil hat is on tight this morning.

This stuff happening in the middle of a campaign is most likely a form of extortion: pay me and I'll go away, if not I'll cause a big stink at this most inconvenient time for you.

She may have had to go through a government complaint process before having permission to sue -- if her suit is for discrimination. We don't even know what the suit is about, but Allred has, in the past, done a lot of discrimination cases. Keep an open mind. Allred while not necessarily a pleasant person is a pretty good lawyer. She will have looked to see if the evidence warrants filing. She could be in trouble if she did not do that. I doubt that there is anything frivolous about this lawsuit, but we shall see.

I read the KTLA article linked to in another post in this thread. I was wrong in thinking this might be a discrimination case. It looks more like a wages/ labor regulations lawsuit. We shall see what happens.

Whitman probably new she was an illegal alien all along, but fired her so that Whitman could start running for office without an "illegal nanny" scandal, like the ones that have taken out quite a few candidates in the not-so-distant past.

9. I saw the debate last night
Meg Whitman sounded like every single corporate CEO I've ever come in contact with - no emotion, "it'll hurt me more than it'll hurt you" crap - I've sat through numerous branch level meetings at Morgan Stanley listening to the same overpaid CEO bullshit for the last 19 years. I hope her housekeeper has a GREAT story to tell because I want her to go down in flames.

30. Ugly candidates ...
I agree with everything you said, but Whitman still won the debate. She has learned to be smooth and articulate and comes across much more approachable than Jerry Brown does.

Jerry Brown came across as shrill and unlikable. That is not good in a media driven state like California, where many voters decide whom to vote for based on their likability. Brown; like Davis and Angelides, is so unlikable that he comes across as downright ugly. Brown's candidacy is a disaster for California Democrats.

I can only hope that former eBay and HP employees are quietly phoning their California friends and telling them the truth about Whitman and Fiorina. God knows, the California Democratic Party hasn't got a clue. I have to wonder at this point, whether they are taking payoffs from Republican campaign donors to throw Gubinatorial races this badly.

37. Actually Jerry Brown has a lot of loyalty built up in California
Jerry Brown works hard and most Californians recognize that. As for being shrill and unlikable, we've been inundated with meg-a-bucks- VERY shrill and unlikable commercials on the radio for months now. If she's got a "smooth and articulate" side to her, the majority of Californians (those who didn't watch the debates) have yet to hear or see it.

All I could hear was that hatred about "unions"...and how she is going to deal

SO...She wants to get rid of jobs...She wants to put working Californians on the
street with no income or job...And she is attacking Police and Fire fighters? (WELL,
aren't they "union" members too?)

She's a b!tch and I would not trust her with one penny of my money. The sheer fact

all that I need to know.

39. Whitman is far too wealthy to have hired "off the street" -- she used an agency.
If the employee falsified paperwork in dealing with the agency, Whitman is off the hook, as the agency is the responsible party for checking backgrounds.

I suspect she used false documents, lied on the application, and then came clean when someone told her that her boss' candidacy could be torpedoed if she so much has had a window-washer who was undocumented.

That, or someone on Whitman's staff double checked everyone who had ever worked for them, and "Bingo!"
