Magnitude 6.6 quake strikes off Indonesia - USGS

WASHINGTON, Sept 29 (Reuters) - A strong quake of magnitude 6.6 struck off the coast of Indonesia, the U.S. Geological Survey reported on Wednesday.

The quake, which hit at 2:10 a.m. on Thursday (1710 GMT on Wednesday), was centered 68 miles (110 km) northwest of Dobo in Indonesia's Aru Islands.

The tremor was shallow, at a depth of 13.2 miles (21.2 km).

It was not immediately known whether the quake caused any damage or casualty. It did not trigger a tsunami warning but could cause some local waves.

Although I did get woken up around that time by something, not sure if it was because of a tremble from this or not, though.

Seems like it's the same place another 6.5 quake happened on Sunday.

6. Glad to hear all's well
With all the recent volcanic/seismic activity, perhaps you guys should think about sacrificing a virgin or something. I heard of one in Delaware--no, scratch that. Apparently, she had a wild youth. She just thinks everybody ELSE shouldn't have sex. :)

in new zealand the aftershocks are still happening.

yesterday there was an earthquake near a volcano in the north island followed by an aftershock in christchurch in the south island. they don't know if they are connected.



this is white island. the 6.4 happened 90km north of this mean looking volcano
